Abstract

Aspects of the present disclosure describe determining an uplink channel raster for determining frequency location of an uplink channel over which to transmit uplink communications to a base station. Uplink communications can be transmitted to the base station over the uplink channel. The uplink channel raster can be shifted, in frequency, with respect to a legacy uplink channel raster of a legacy communication technology to facilitate coexistence, in an uplink carrier, of the uplink channel and one or more uplink channels of the legacy communication technology.

identifying an uplink channel raster for an uplink channel over which to transmit uplink communications to a base station;

determining to shift, with respect to the uplink channel raster, an uplink transmission over the uplink channel; and

transmitting the shifted uplink transmission, wherein the shifted uplink transmission aligns with a legacy uplink channel.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the uplink transmission is shifted, in frequency, by 7.5 kilohertz (kHz) with respect to the uplink channel raster.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

identifying a downlink channel raster for a downlink channel over which to receive downlink communications from the base station,

wherein the uplink channel raster is of a different value than the downlink channel raster.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying the uplink channel raster comprises determining possible frequency locations that are at an offset related to possible frequency locations determined for a downlink channel raster.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the offset corresponds to a half subcarrier spacing of a legacy communication technology associated with the legacy uplink channel.

6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the offset is in a range of 7 to 8 kilohertz.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, from the base station, a channel number for the uplink transmission determined by the uplink channel raster.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the channel number is received in broadcasted system information, along with a random access channel configuration, or in radio resource control (RRC) signaling.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising configuring a wideband uplink carrier over the uplink channel raster to include a fractional resource block (RB) to facilitate aligning the wideband uplink carrier with two or more contiguous legacy communication technology uplink carriers and an associated guard-band.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein a location of the fractional RB within the wideband uplink carrier is specific to a cell or a group of UEs of the base station.

11. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a transceiver;

a memory configured to store instructions; and

one or more processors communicatively coupled with the transceiver and the memory, wherein the one or more processors are configured to cause the apparatus to:

identify an uplink channel raster for an uplink channel over which to transmit uplink communications to a base station;

determine to shift, with respect to the uplink channel raster, an uplink transmission over the uplink channel; and

transmit the shifted uplink transmission, wherein the shifted uplink transmission aligns with a legacy uplink channel.

12. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the uplink transmission is shifted, in frequency, by 7.5 kilohertz (kHz) with respect to the uplink channel raster.

13. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to:

identify a downlink channel raster for a downlink channel over which to receive downlink communications from the base station,

wherein the uplink channel raster is of a different value than the downlink channel raster.

14. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to identify the uplink channel raster at least in part by determining possible frequency locations that are at an offset related to possible frequency locations determined for a downlink channel raster.

15. The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the offset corresponds to a half subcarrier spacing of a legacy communication technology associated with the legacy uplink channel.

16. The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the offset is in a range of 7 to 8 kilohertz.

17. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to receive, from the base station, a channel number for the uplink transmission determined by the uplink channel raster.

18. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the channel number is received in broadcasted system information, along with a random access channel configuration, or in radio resource control (RRC) signaling.

19. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to configure a wideband uplink carrier over the uplink channel raster to include a fractional resource block (RB) to facilitate aligning the wideband uplink carrier with two or more contiguous legacy communication technology uplink carriers and an associated guard-band.

20. The apparatus of claim 19 , wherein a location of the fractional RB within the wideband uplink carrier is specific to a cell or a group of UEs of the base station.

21. An apparatus for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE), comprising:

means for identifying an uplink channel raster for an uplink channel over which to transmit uplink communications to a base station;

means for determining to shift, with respect to the uplink channel raster, an uplink transmission over the uplink channel; and

means for transmitting the shifted uplink transmission, wherein the shifted uplink transmission aligns with a legacy uplink channel.

22. The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the uplink transmission is shifted, in frequency, by 7.5 kilohertz (kHz) with respect to the uplink channel raster.

23. The apparatus of claim 21 , further comprising:

means for identifying a downlink channel raster for a downlink channel over which to receive downlink communications from the base station,

wherein the uplink channel raster is of a different value than the downlink channel raster.
