Abstract

Embodiments generally relate to a machine-implemented method of automatically adjusting the range of a depth data recording executed by at least one processing device. The method comprises determining, by the at least one processing device, at least one position of a subject to be recorded; determining, by the at least one processing device, at least one spatial range based on the position of the subject; receiving depth information; and constructing, by the at least one processing device, a depth data recording based on the received depth information limited by the at least one spatial range.

Claims (18)

1. A machine-implemented method of combining at least a first depth data recording and a second depth data recording executed by at least one processing device, the method comprising:

determining, by the processing device, a first viewing angle of a first depth data recording;

determining, by the processing device, a second viewing angle of a second depth data recording; and

generating a combined depth data recording comprising each of the first and second depth data recordings, wherein a visibility of each of the first and second depth data recordings within the combined depth data recording is determined by the processing device according to the first and second viewing angles, and wherein generating the combined depth data recording comprises generating a virtual object by reconstructing data derived from the first depth data recording and the second depth data recording, wherein the virtual object is constructed based on depth data recorded by a depth data sensor of a subject, and wherein the capture angle of the virtual object is the angle of the depth data sensor to the subject.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein each depth data recording comprises a plurality of depth data points.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of depth data points are arranged into at least one set of plurality of depth data points that share a common viewing angle.

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the visibility of the each of the first and second depth data recordings within the combined depth data recording is altered by the processing device adjusting a display size of at least one of the plurality of depth data points.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the virtual object is viewed against a background image stream being captured by the processing device in real time.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein a viewing angle of the virtual object is determined based on an angle between the processing device and a physical marker being captured by the processing device in real time.

The method of claim 6 , wherein visibility of the virtual object is at a maximum when the viewing angle is at a normal to a capture angle of the component of the virtual object, and the visibility is at a minimum when the viewing angle is tangential to a capture angle of the component of the virtual object.

8. The method of claim 5 , wherein a viewing angle of the virtual object is determined based on an angle between the processing device and a physical location being captured by the processing device in real time.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method is performed for more than one virtual object simultaneously.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first depth data recording and the second depth data recording are captured by a single depth data sensor, wherein the second depth data recording is captured based on depth data reflected from a surface.

11. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing executable program code that, when executed by a computer, causes the computer to perform the method according to claim 1 .

12. A system for combining at least a first depth data recording and a second depth data recording, the system comprising:

a processing device having memory and a processor, the processing device being configured to determine a first viewing angle of a first depth data recording, to determine a second viewing angle of a second depth data recording, and to generate a combined depth data recording comprising each of the first and second depth data recordings, wherein a visibility of each of the first and second depth data recordings within the combined depth data recording is determined by the processing device according to the first and second viewing angles; and

wherein to generate the combined depth data recording comprises the processing device being configured to generate a virtual object by reconstructing data derived from the first depth data recording and the second depth data recording, wherein the virtual object is constructed based on depth data recorded by a depth data sensor of a subject, and wherein the capture angle of the virtual object is the angle of the depth data sensor to the subject.

The system of claim 12 , wherein each depth data recording comprises a plurality of depth data points, and wherein the visibility of the each of the first and second depth data recordings within the combined depth data recording is altered by the processing device adjusting a display size of at least one of the plurality of depth data points.
