Abstract

A gaming machine having a display that displays a determined screen including a character, during execution of a game, a touch panel sensor, disposed above the display, that is capable of detecting the contact position, the position of the character contacted by a player, and a CPU that determines the contact position of the character as well as the contact mode, and that displays an image on the display, that is changed based on the result of this determination.

Claims (14)

1. A method for controlling the depiction of a character on a touch-sensitive display screen of an electronic device, comprising:

selecting one of a plurality of predefined regions of the character by bringing a selecting member next to a to-be-selected region of the character on the touch-sensitive display screen; and

moving the selecting member in one of a plurality of predefined movement modes relative to the touch-sensitive display screen to cause the appearance of the character to vary in a manner that depends directly on the selected region, per se, and the utilized movement mode;

wherein the character is animated and moving the selecting member in said one of the plurality of predefined movement modes while the character is stationary causes the character to begin moving, and

wherein for a predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions, the character is subjected to a first variation of the appearance thereof in case of a first one of the plurality of predefined movement modes and is subjected to a second variation of the appearance thereof, different from the first variation, in case of a second one of the plurality of predefined movement modes, different from the first one, with at least one of the first and second ones of the plurality of predefined movement modes being defined in terms of a counter-based or a time-based parameter.

2. A method for controlling the animation of a character having a plurality of predefined regions on a touch-sensitive display screen of an electronic device, comprising:

bringing a selecting member next to a to-be-selected one of the predefined regions of the character on the touch-sensitive display screen; and

moving the selecting member in one of a plurality of predefined movement modes relative to the touch-sensitive display screen to cause the animation of the character to vary in a manner that depends directly on the selected one of the predefined regions, per se, of the character and the utilized movement mode;

wherein moving the selecting member in said one of the plurality of predefined movement modes while the character is stationary causes the character to begin moving, and

wherein for a predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions, the character is subjected to first variation of the animation thereof in case of first one of the plurality of predefined movement modes and is subjected to second variation of the animation thereof, different from the first variation, in case of second one of the plurality of predefined movement modes, different from the first one, with at least one of the first and second ones of the plurality of predefined movement modes being defined in terms of a counter-based or a time-based parameter.

The method of claim 1 , wherein said time-based parameter is frequency with which the selecting member is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions and when the frequency of the selecting member which is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions is less than a threshold value, the character is subjected to the first variation of the appearance thereof, and when the frequency of the selecting member which is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions exceeds the threshold value, the character is subjected to the second variation of the appearance thereof.

The method of claim 1 , wherein said time-based parameter is length of time with which the selecting member is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions and when the length of time over which the selecting member is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions is less than a threshold value which is a predetermined time duration, the character is subjected to the first variation of the appearance thereof, and when the length of time over which the selecting member is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions exceeds the threshold value, the character is subjected to the second variation of the appearance thereof.

The method of claim 2 , wherein said time-based parameter is frequency with which the selecting member is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions and when the frequency of the selecting member which is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions is less than a threshold value, the character is subjected to the first variation of the animation thereof, and when the frequency of the selecting member which is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions exceeds the threshold value, the character is subjected to the second variation of the animation thereof.

The method of claim 2 , wherein said time-based parameter is length of time with which the selecting member is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions and when the length of time over which the selecting member is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions is less than a threshold value which is a predetermined time duration, the character is subjected to the first variation of the animation thereof, and when the length of time over which the selecting member is brought to the predetermined one of the plurality of predefined regions exceeds the threshold value, the character is subjected to the second variation of the animation thereof.
