Abstract

Compositions and methods for enhancing plant growth and crop yield in legumes and non-legumes are described. The compositions include lipo-chitooligosaccharides in combination with chitins/chitosans or in combination with compounds or in combination with a herbicide. The method includes applying the compositions to seeds and/or plants either concomitantly or sequentially.

Claims (4)

1. A method of increasing corn yield, said method comprising applying genistein, daidzein and at least one lipo-chitooligosaccharide to corn seed in amounts effective to synergistically increase the yield of plants grown from said corn seed, wherein said at least one lipo-chitooligosaccharide and said genistein and daidzein are applied to said corn seed prior to planting.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said at least one lipo-chitooligosaccharide is from Rhizobium leguminosarium.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein said at least one lipo-chitooligosaccharide is applied to said corn seed at a concentration of about 1×10 −8 M.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said genistein and daidzein are applied to said corn seed at a concentration of about 10 mM.
