Abstract

Disclosed herein are systems, methods and devices system for identifying a misbehaving computerized device. In some implementations, the system includes a processor to perform operations including receiving, by the system, a report about a computerized device, wherein the report comprises a pseudonym certificate from the computerized device, and wherein the pseudonym certificate comprises a linkage value. The operations also include transmitting, by the system and to a cloaking authority device, a request for a cloak index, wherein the request for the cloak index comprises the linkage value from the pseudonym certificate from the computerized device. The operations also include receiving, by the system, the cloak index from the cloaking authority device, and determining, by the system and using the cloak index, that the computerized device is the misbehaving computerized device.

transmitting, by the system and to a cloaking authority device, a request for a cloak index, wherein the request for the cloak index comprises the linkage value from the pseudonym certificate from the computerized device;

receiving, by the system, the cloak index from the cloaking authority device; and

determining, by the system and using the cloak index, that the computerized device is the misbehaving computerized device.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor further performs operations comprising directing a plurality of computerized devices to ignore instructions generated by the misbehaving computerized device.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor further performs operations comprising receiving an identifier corresponding to the computerized device that has misbehaved, the identifier comprising a vehicle identification number (VIN), a make, a model, or a serial number.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the processor further performs operations comprising storing the identifier in a database and querying the database for a group of computerized devices that have misbehaved based on the identifier.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor further performs operations comprising:

determining, by interacting with a pseudonym certificate authority and a registration authority, a hash of a linkage chain identification (LCI) value of the misbehaving computerized device, wherein the LCI corresponds to the cloak index.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the misbehaving computerized device is a vehicle, a medical device, a robot, a drone, an autonomous vehicle, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, a wireless communication module, or a transportation infrastructure device, wherein the transportation infrastructure device comprises a traffic light, a traffic camera, a traffic sensor, a bridge monitor, or a bridge control system.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor further performs operations comprising signing the request for the cloak index and transmitting the signed request for the cloak index to the cloaking authority device.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor further performs operations comprising:

encrypting the linkage value and a timestamp with an encryption key, wherein the system and a pseudonym certificate authority each store or access a common encryption key.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the request for the cloak index further comprises a hash value based on a nonce value and the report.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor further performs operations comprising:

communicating a verification to a pseudonym certificate authority that the system sent the request for the cloak index to the cloaking authority device before the cloaking authority device processes the request.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor further performs operations comprising:

verifying, via a pseudonym certificate authority, that the system sent the request for the cloak index to the cloaking authority device before the cloaking authority device processes the request.

12. A method, implemented by a system, for identifying a misbehaving computerized device, the method comprising:

receiving, by the system, a report about a computerized device, wherein the report comprises a pseudonym certificate from the computerized device, and wherein the pseudonym certificate comprises a linkage value;

transmitting, by the system and to a cloaking authority device, a request for a cloak index, wherein the request for the cloak index comprises the linkage value from the pseudonym certificate from the computerized device;

receiving, by the system, the cloak index from the cloaking authority device; and

determining, by the system and using the cloak index, that the computerized device is the misbehaving computerized device.

13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising directing a plurality of computerized devices to ignore instructions generated by the misbehaving computerized device.

14. The method of claim 12 , further comprising receiving an identifier corresponding to the computerized device that has misbehaved, the identifier comprising a vehicle identification number (VIN), a make, a model, or a serial number.

15. The method of claim 14 , further comprising storing the identifier in a database and querying the database for a group of computerized devices that have misbehaved based on the identifier.

16. The method of claim 12 , further comprising determining, by interacting with a pseudonym certificate authority and a registration authority, a hash of a linkage chain identification (LCI) value of the misbehaving computerized device, wherein the LCI corresponds to the cloak index.

17. The method of claim 12 , further comprising verifying, via a pseudonym certificate authority, that the system sent the request for the cloak index to the cloaking authority device before the cloaking authority device processes the request.

18. The method of claim 12 , wherein the misbehaving computerized device is a vehicle, a medical device, a robot, a drone, an autonomous vehicle, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, a wireless communication module, or a transportation infrastructure device, wherein the transportation infrastructure device comprises a traffic light, a traffic camera, a traffic sensor, a bridge monitor, or a bridge control system.

19. The method of claim 12 , further comprising signing the request for the cloak index and transmitting the signed request for the cloak index to the cloaking authority device.

20. The method of claim 12 , further comprising encrypting the linkage value and a timestamp with an encryption key, wherein the system and a pseudonym certificate authority each store or access a common encryption key.

21. The method of claim 12 , wherein the request for the cloak index further comprises a hash value based on a nonce value and the report.

22. The method of claim 12 , further comprising communicating a verification to a pseudonym certificate authority that the system sent the request for the cloak index to the cloaking authority device before the cloaking authority device processes the request.

23. A non-transitory computer-readable media device for identifying a misbehaving computerized device, comprising computer-executable instructions that, in response to execution by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving, by the processor, a report about a computerized device, wherein the report comprises a pseudonym certificate from the computerized device, and wherein the pseudonym certificate comprises a linkage value;

transmitting, by the processor and to a cloaking authority device, a request for a cloak index, wherein the request for the cloak index comprises the linkage value from the pseudonym certificate from the computerized device;

receiving, by the processor, the cloak index from the cloaking authority device; and

determining, by the processor and using the cloak index, that the computerized device is the misbehaving computerized device.

24. The non-transitory computer-readable media device of claim 23 , wherein the computer-executable instructions cause the processor to further perform operations comprising directing a plurality of computerized devices to ignore instructions generated by the misbehaving computerized device.

25. The non-transitory computer-readable media device of claim 23 , wherein the computer-executable instructions cause the processor to further perform operations comprising receiving an identifier corresponding to the computerized device that has misbehaved, the identifier comprising a vehicle identification number (VIN), a make, a model, or a serial number.

26. The non-transitory computer-readable media device of claim 25 , wherein the computer-executable instructions cause the processor to further perform operations comprising storing the identifier in a database and querying the database for a group of computerized devices that have misbehaved based on the identifier.
