Abstract

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a front plate, a rear plate facing away the front plate, a side member disposed to surround a space defined between the front plate and the rear plate, wherein the side member is coupled to the front plate and the rear plate to define a housing, wherein the side member is at least partially made of a metallic material, a polymer structure located in the space, and a display received in the space to be viewable through the front plat. The rear plate may be seated on the second surface.

Claims (41)

1. An electronic device comprising:

a front plate;

a rear plate facing away the front plate, wherein a space is defined between the rear plate and the front plate;

a side member comprising a metal part surrounding the space and forming a part of the surface of the electronic device, and a polymer part positioned in the space,

wherein a first surface is defined in the side member and the first surface faces the rear plate, and

wherein a through hole is formed in the side member and penetrates the metal part and at least a portion of the polymer part; and

a mechanical button at least partially disposed in the through hole;

wherein the side member includes a first portion in which a trench recessed in the direction toward the front plate is provided on the first surface, and a second portion which is a peripheral portion of the first portion,

wherein at least a portion of the mechanical button is located inside the trench, and

wherein at least a portion of the trench is covered by the rear plate.

2. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the through hole extends to intersect the trench included in the first portion.

3. The electronic device of claim 1 , when viewing the first surface from above, at least a portion of the mechanical button is visible through the trench.

4. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the through hole is formed so as not to penetrate a portion of the polymer part included in the first portion and to penetrate a portion of the polymer part included in the second portion.

5. The electronic device of claim 1 ,

wherein the first surface comprises a seating area where the rear plate is seated and formed by the polymer part,

wherein the edge area of the rear plate is seated on the seating area included in the second portion, and

wherein the edge area of the rear plate is partially received in the trench included in the first portion.

6. The electronic device of claim 1 ,

wherein the side member comprises a side wall facing the space,

wherein the through hole penetrates the side wall included in the second portion, and

wherein a pressing portion of the mechanical button is disposed in the space by extending through the side wall included in the second portion.

7. The electronic device of claim 6 , further comprising:

a key bracket disposed to face the side wall; and

a switch module disposed on the key bracket,

wherein the switch module faces the side wall included in the second portion, and

wherein the mechanical button is configured to press the switch module.

8. The electronic device of claim 6 ,

wherein the side member further comprises a protruding portion protruding from the side wall toward the space, and

wherein the protruding portion forms a portion of the seating area where the rear plate is seated.

9. The electronic device of claim 1 ,

wherein the first surface comprises a seating area where the rear plate is seated and formed by the polymer part,

wherein a first inner wall in which the through hole is formed and a second inner wall facing the first inner wall are defined in the trench, and

wherein the mechanical button is spaced apart from the second inner wall.

10. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the polymer part is configured to form at least a portion of the second inner wall and the seating area of the first surface.

11. The electronic device of claim 9 ,

wherein the first inner wall is formed by the metal part included in the first portion,

wherein the second inner wall comprises a polymer area formed by the polymer part and a metal area formed by the metal part, and

wherein the polymer area is extended to the seating area.

12. The electronic device of claim 9 , further comprising:

an adhesive layer, and

wherein the adhesive layer is disposed between the seating area of the first surface and the rear plate.
