Abstract

Methods, systems, and computer program products are included for authenticating computing devices. An exemplary method includes associating a security key with an operating system of a first computing device, wherein the security key is generated from a serial number corresponding to the first computing device. A token corresponding to the security key is sent to a second computing device. The token is accessed by the second computing device to authenticate the first computing device. An authenticated session is established between the first computing device and the second computing device. Within the authenticated session, a connection is provided between the first computing device and the second computing device.

Claims (38)

1. A system, comprising:

one or more computer-readable memories, with program instructions stored on the one or more computer-readable memories; and

one or more processors coupled to the one or more computer-readable memories and configured to execute the program instructions to cause the system to perform operations comprising:

receiving, during a first time period, a security key from a first device, wherein the security key is based on one or more device identifiers associated with the first device, wherein the security key is associated with an operating system of the first device during a boot process of the operating system, and wherein the security key is received independent of requiring a login credential from the first device via a first application on the first device;

receiving, during a second time period, a request, from the first device, to establish an authenticated session, wherein the request includes the security key;

in response to determining that the security key received during the second time period matches the security key received during the first time period, establishing an authenticated session with the first device that extends to a plurality of applications of the first device including the first application, wherein the authenticated session enables each of the plurality of applications to communicate with the system through the operating system;

in response to establishing the authenticated session with the first device, receiving a communication from the operating system of the first device, wherein the communication comprises a session identifier associated with the security key; and

providing the first device with access to a first content independent of requiring the login credential from the first device via the first application.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the providing the first device with access to the first content includes providing a read access to a portion of the one or more computer-readable memories.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the providing the first device access to the first content includes providing a first application with access to the first content, and, at a later time, providing a second application included in the plurality of applications with access to the first content or second content within the established authenticated session.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more device identifiers includes a serial number corresponding to a hardware component of the first device.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the security key is generated during a boot process of the first device.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first content includes a payment website corresponding to a user of the first device.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise: in response to establishing the authenticated session with the first device, associating the session identifier with communications received and transmitted to the first device.

8. A method comprising:

receiving, during a first time period, a security key from a first device, wherein the security key is based on one or more device identifiers associated with the first device, wherein the security key is associated with an operating system of the first device during a boot process of the operating system, and wherein the security key is received independent of requiring a login credential from the first device via a first application on the first device;

receiving, during a second time period, a request, from the first device, to establish an authenticated session, wherein the request includes the security key;

in response to determining that the security key received during the second time period matches the security key received during the first time period, establishing an authenticated session with the first device that extends to a plurality of applications of associated with the first device including the first application, wherein the authenticated session enables each of the plurality of applications to communicate within the authenticated session through the operating system;

in response to establishing the authenticated session with the first device, receiving a communication from the operating system of the first device, wherein the communication comprises a session identifier associated with the security key; and

providing the first device with access to a first content independent of requiring the login credential from the first device via the first application.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the providing the first device access to the first content includes providing the first application with access to the first content, and, at a later time, providing a second application of the plurality of applications with access to the first content or second content within the established authenticated session.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the one or more device identifiers includes a serial number corresponding to a hardware component of the first device.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the security key is generated during a boot process of the first device.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first content includes a payment website corresponding to a user of the first device.

13. The method of claim 8 , further comprising in response to establishing the authenticated session with the first device, associating the session identifier with communications received and transmitted to the first device.

14. A computer program product comprising:

one or more non-transitory machine-readable mediums, wherein program instructions are stored on at least one of the one or more non-transitory machine-readable mediums, and wherein the program instructions, when executed, cause a machine to perform operations comprising:

receiving, during a first time period, a security key from a first device, wherein the security key is based on one or more device identifiers associated with the first device, wherein the security key is associated with an operating system of the first device during a boot process of the operating system, and wherein the security key is received independent of requiring a login credential from the first device via a first application on the first device;

receiving, during a second time period, a request, from the first device, to establish an authenticated session, wherein the request includes the security key;

in response to determining that the security key received during the second time period matches the security key received during the first time period, establishing an authenticated session with the first device that extends to a plurality of applications of the first device including the first application, wherein the authenticated session enables each of the plurality of applications to communicate with the machine through the operating system;

in response to establishing the authenticated session with the first device, receiving a communication from the operating system of the first device, wherein the communication comprises a session identifier associated with the security key; and

providing the first device with access to a first content independent of requiring the login credential from the first device via the first application.

15. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the providing the first device with access to the first content includes providing a read access to a portion of a second device storing the first content.

16. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the providing the first device access to the first content includes providing the first application with access to the first content, and, at a later time, providing a second application included in the plurality of applications with access to the first content or second content within the established authenticated session.

17. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the one or more device identifiers includes a serial number corresponding to a hardware component of the first device.

18. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the security key is generated during a boot process of the first device.

19. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the first content includes a payment website corresponding to a user of the first device.

20. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the operations further comprise: in response to establishing the authenticated session with the first device, associating the session identifier with communications received from and transmitted to the first device.
