Abstract

An example operation may include one or more of receiving, by a lead peer, a new block from an orderer node over a blockchain network that includes a plurality of peers, acquiring, by the lead peer, a shared memory handler for a channel of the blockchain network from an anchor peer, appending, by the lead peer, the new block to a shared memory buffer based on the handler, and notifying the plurality of the peers that the new block is available on the shared memory buffer.

Claims (34)

1. A system, comprising:

a processor of a lead peer;

a memory on which are stored machine readable instructions that when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

receive, by the lead peer, a new block from an orderer node over a blockchain network that includes a plurality of peers;

acquire a shared memory handler for a channel of the blockchain network from an anchor peer;

append the new block to a shared memory buffer based on the handler, wherein the shared memory buffer is a temporary storage that holds some blocks from a current blockchain ledger but not all blocks from the current blockchain ledger; and

notify the plurality of the peers that the new block is available on the shared memory buffer.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to attach a timer to the new block, wherein the timer equals to a number of peers of the channel.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to set a timer for the new block, wherein the timer reflects a size of the shared memory buffer.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to acquire from the anchor peer a number of peers from the plurality of the peers registered with the channel.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to remove the new block from the shared memory buffer if a timer is out.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to decrease a counter every time the peer of the plurality of the peers accesses the new block.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to remove the new block from the shared memory buffer when the counter reaches zero.

8. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a lead peer, a new block from an orderer node over a blockchain network that includes a plurality of peers;

acquiring, by the lead peer, a shared memory handler for a channel of the blockchain network from an anchor peer;

appending, by the lead peer, the new block to a shared memory buffer based on the handler, wherein the shared memory buffer is a temporary storage that holds some blocks from a current blockchain ledger but not all blocks from the current blockchain ledger; and

notifying the plurality of the peers that the new block is available on the shared memory buffer.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising attaching a timer to the new block, wherein the timer equals to a number of peers of the channel.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising setting a timer for the new block, wherein the timer reflects a size of the shared memory buffer.

11. The method of claim 8 , further comprising acquiring from the anchor peer a number of peers from the plurality of the peers registered with the channel.

12. The method of claim 8 , further comprising removing the new block from the shared memory buffer if a timer is out.

13. The method of claim 8 , further comprising decreasing a counter every time the peer of the plurality of the peers accesses the new block.

14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising removing the new block from the shared memory buffer when the counter reaches zero.

15. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions, that when read by a processor, cause the processor to perform:

receiving, by a lead peer, a new block from an orderer node over a blockchain network that includes a plurality of peers;

acquiring, by the lead peer, a shared memory handler for a channel of the blockchain network from an anchor peer;

appending the new block to a shared memory buffer based on the handler, wherein the shared memory buffer is a temporary storage that holds some blocks from a current blockchain ledger but not all blocks from the current blockchain ledger; and

notifying the plurality of the peers that the new block is available on the shared memory buffer.

16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions, that when read by the processor, cause the processor to attach a timer to the new block, wherein the timer equals to a number of peers of the channel.

17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions, that when read by the processor, cause the processor to set a timer for the new block, wherein the timer reflects a size of the shared memory buffer.

18. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions, that when read by the processor, cause the processor to acquire from the anchor peer a number of peers from the plurality of the peers registered with the channel.

19. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions, that when read by the processor, cause the processor to remove the new block from the shared memory buffer if a timer is out.

20. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions, that when read by the processor, cause the processor to decrease a counter every time the peer of the plurality of the peers accesses the new block and to remove the new block from the shared memory buffer when the counter reaches zero.
