Abstract

In one aspect, the present invention is directed to a hair straightening apparatus, comprising: two jaws ( 12 ), pivotally connected by a hinge ( 14 ); two ironing plates ( 16 ), each installed in a different jaw of the jaws, and a heating mechanism of the ironing plates; the jaws having an open state in which the ironing plates are drawn from each other, and a close state in which the ironing plates attach each other; a group of electromagnets ( 26 ) installed on one of the jaws, and a corresponding magnetic object installed in the other jaw, wherein the corresponding magnetic object is in a form of a ferromagnetic plate ( 38 ) or in a form of another group of electromagnets; an on/off button ( 24 ), for activating/deactivating electric power supply to the electromagnets, wherein the power supply is sufficient turning the jaws from the open state to the close state.

Claims (21)

1. A hair straightening apparatus, comprising:

two jaws ( 12 ), pivotally connected by a hinge ( 14 );

two ironing plates ( 16 ), each installed in a different jaw of said jaws, and a heating mechanism of said ironing plates;

said jaws having an open state in which said ironing plates are apart from each other, and a closed state in which said ironing plates are pulled to each other;

a first group of electromagnets ( 26 ) installed on one of said jaws, and a corresponding magnetic object installed in the other jaw, wherein said corresponding magnetic object is in a form of a ferromagnetic plate ( 38 ) or in a form of a second group of electromagnets, wherein electromagnets of said first group of electromagnets have different magnetic characteristics from each other and/or electromagnets of said second group of electromagnets have different magnetic characteristics from each other;

a controller, for changing an intensity of said power supply to electromagnets of said first group of electromagnets and/or electromagnets of said second group of electromagnets according to a program embedded therein, said controller adapted to repeatedly apply cycles of a first predetermined time period in which the jaws are in the closed state and a second predetermined time period in which the jaws are in an open state; and

an on/off button ( 24 ), for activating/deactivating electric power supply to said electromagnets of said first group of electromagnets, wherein said power supply switches said jaws from said open state to said closed state.

2. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a spring for retaining said jaws in said open state.

3. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , further adapted to push said jaws away from each other in said open state.

4. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said on/off button is in a form of an elastic dome having two contacts that touch each other when a user presses said dome.

5. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said on/off button is in a form of a touch button.

6. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said on/off button is in a form of a proximity switch.

7. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said controller is adapted to soften an approaching process of said jaws to each other.

8. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said controller is adapted to apply constant power while said jaws are in said closed state, wherein said constant intensity can be set.

9. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said controller is adapted to apply cycles of:

a first period in which said jaws are in said close state; and

a second period in which said jaws are in an open state;

thereby allowing a user to iron a strand of hair without lifting his thumb from said on/off button ( 24 ).

10. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one input device for inputting at least first, second, and third values to said apparatus, said first value for setting a temperature of said heating, said second value for setting a pulling power of any electromagnets in said first group of electromagnets, and said third value for setting a pulling power of any electromagnets in said second group of electromagnets.

11. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein a pulling characteristic of electromagnets of said first group of electromagnets and/or electromagnets of said second group of electromagnets and/or a power supply thereto is set according to a distance of said electromagnets from said axle.

12. A hair straightening apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein said input device is selected from a group consisting of: a slider, a knob.
