Abstract

A pedal powered motor-assist golf bag cart/cycle ( 10 ) is a personal riding golf cart/cycle adapted to transport a rider and a golf bag ( 12 ) for use on a golf course. The cart/cycle ( 10 ) is generally symmetrical about a longitudinal plane ( 11 ) and includes a frame ( 14 ) with a seat ( 16 ), a front wheel and steering components ( 18 ), a rear wheel ( 20 ), an inclined bag support ( 22 ), a pedal subassembly ( 24 ), a motor assist subassembly ( 26 ), and controls ( 28 ). It is adapted to be propelled by either the pedal subassembly ( 24 ), the motor subassembly ( 26 ), or both together.

a pair of fork arms separately attach to the steering bracket and the front wheel.

6. The golf bag cart/cycle of claim 5 , wherein

said right and left handlebars rotate forward and away from the seat and cycle frame to the collapsed position whereby at least a portion of the right and left handlebars are substantially parallel with a portion of the pair of fork arms; and

the horizontal angle of incline from said bottom bag cradle to said top bag cradle is in the range of twenty five to forty five degrees.

7. The golf bag cart/cycle of claim 6 , wherein

the right handlebar includes a right curved tube section, the left handlebar includes a left curved tube section; and

a separation distance between the right handlebar and the left handlebar varies and the right curved tube section and the left curved tube section increase the separation distance from a first separation distance adjacent the steering bracket to a second separation distance that is greater than the first separation distance.

8. The golf bag cart/cycle of claim 6 , wherein

the right handlebar includes a right handle grip, the left handlebar includes a left handle grip;

in the collapsed position the right and left handlebars are between the pair of fork arms and the seat, and the right and left handle grips are oriented toward the rear wheel;

said golf bag is straddled by the rider during operation.

9. A single passenger pedal powered golf bag cart/cycle comprising;

a cycle frame having a front wheel, a rear wheel aligned with the front wheel, a seat for a rider, and handlebars for steering including a right handlebar and a left handlebar creating a void therebetween to receive a portion of a golf bag, wherein the right and left handlebars are rotatably coupled to the cycle frame via a steering bracket coupled to a pair of fork arms connected to the front wheel, and right and left handlebars are individually, and pivotally, coupled to the steering bracket such that they may be rotated forward and away from the seat and cycle frame to a collapsed position;

a lower bag cradle and an upper bag cradle mounted on said frame to support the golf bag at an angle of twenty-five to forty five degrees from the horizontal and positioned so that a portion of the golf bag is (a) between the right handlebar and the left handlebar, which rotate relative to the stationary golf bag, and (b) extends over a portion of the front wheel, and a portion of the upper bag cradle is over a portion of the front wheel, with said golf bag being straddled by the rider; and

a pedal subassembly including a pair of opposing pedals which the rider can utilize to propel said rear wheel to move the cart/cycle forward.

10. The single passenger pedal powered golf bag cart/cycle of claim 9 , wherein in the collapsed position the right and left handlebars are rotated such that at least a portion of the right and left handlebars are substantially parallel with a portion of the pair of fork arms.

11. The single passenger golf bag cart/cycle of claim 10 , wherein the right handlebar includes a right handle grip, the left handlebar includes a left handle grip, and in the collapsed position the right and left handlebars are between the pair of fork arms and the seat, and the right and left handle grips are oriented toward the rear wheel.

12. The single passenger golf bag cart/cycle of claim 10 , wherein:

the right handlebar includes a right curved tube section, the left handlebar includes a left curved tube section; and

a separation distance between the right handlebar and the left handlebar varies and the right curved tube section and the left curved tube section increase the separation distance from a first separation distance adjacent the steering bracket to a second separation distance that is greater than the first separation distance.
