Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5 th -Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4 th -Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. An information format and apparatus used by a base station to make a scheduling decision when the base station allocates resource to a terminal in a mobile communication system are provided. Operations of a terminal to report a maximum transmission power accurately to the base station in a scheduling process are also provided. A method for calculating a maximum transmit power in a constant manner regardless of a channel status is also provided.

Claims (53)

1. A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving, from a base station, control information for configuring a power headroom (PH) report (PHR) format including a PH field and a maximum transmit power, P CMAX , field;

selecting a P CMAX , the P CMAX being equal to or greater than a lowest P CMAX and equal to or less than a highest P CMAX ;

identifying a PH associated with a transmit power for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) based on the selected P CMAX ; and

transmitting, to the base station, a PHR associated with the PHR format based on the control information, the PHR including the PH and the P CMAX .

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprises:

identifying whether a power reduction has changed more than a predetermined threshold; and

determining a transmission of the PHR in case that the power reduction has changed more than a predetermined threshold.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the P CMAX is based on a terminal power class and a maximum uplink transmit power allowed on a cell.

4. The method of claim 3 ,

wherein the lowest P CMAX is identified based on at least one of the maximum uplink transmit power allowed on a cell, the terminal power class, an allowed maximum power reduction, MPR, an additional maximum power reduction, A-MPR, and an allowed operating band edge transmission power relaxation, ΔT C , and

wherein the highest P CMAX is identified based on at least one of the maximum uplink transmit power available on a cell, and the terminal power class.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the PH and the P CMAX are associated with a carrier.

6. A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:

a transceiver; and

a controller configured to:

receive, from a base station via the transceiver, control information for configuring a power headroom (PH) report (PHR) format including a PH field and a maximum transmit power, P CMAX , field,

select a P CMAX , the P CMAX being equal to or greater than a lowest P CMAX and equal to or less than a highest P CMAX ,

identify a PH associated with a transmit power for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) based on the selected P CMAX , and

transmit, to the base station via the transceiver, a PHR associated with the PHR format based on the control information, the PHR including the PH and the P CMAX .

7. The terminal of claim 6 , wherein the controller is configured to identify whether a power reduction has changed more than a predetermined threshold, and to determine a transmission of the PHR in case that the power reduction has changed more than a predetermined threshold.

8. The terminal of claim 6 , wherein the P CMAX is based on a terminal power class and a maximum uplink transmit power allowed on a cell.

9. The terminal of claim 8 ,

wherein the lowest P CMAX is identified based on at least one of the maximum uplink transmit power allowed on a cell, the terminal power class, an allowed maximum power reduction, MPR, an additional maximum power reduction, A-MPR, and an allowed operating band edge transmission power relaxation, ΔT C , and

wherein the highest P CMAX is identified based on at least one of the maximum uplink transmit power available on a cell, and the terminal power class.

10. The terminal of claim 6 , wherein the PH and the P CMAX are associated with a carrier.

11. A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting, to a terminal, control information for configuring a power headroom (PH) report (PHR) format including a PH field and a maximum transmit power, P CMAX , field;

receiving, from the terminal, a PHR associated with the PHR format based on the control information, the PHR including a PH and a P CMAX ; and

performing scheduling for the terminal based on the PHR,
