Abstract

A method including adjusting a changeable component of a seed planting machine when switching from a first variety of seed to a second variety of seed during planting, wherein the adjusting is based on a location of the planting machine.

Claims (15)

1. A method comprising:

adjusting a changeable component of a seed planting machine when switching from a first variety of seed to a second variety of seed during planting, wherein the adjusting is based on a location of the planting machine, wherein the seed planting machine comprises a double eliminator and a vacuum seed meter, and wherein adjusting the changeable component based on the location of the planting machine comprises:

changing the double eliminator to prevent multiple seeds from being planted at a particular location when switching from the first variety of seed to the second variety of seed; and

adjusting a vacuum level applied to the vacuum seed meter when switching from the first variety of seed to the second variety of seed.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

sensing that the seed planting machine has reached a given location in a field being planted by the seed planting machine, wherein the adjusting of the changeable component is performed responsive to the sensing that the seed planting machine has reached the given location in the field being planted by the seed planting machine.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the field being planted by the seed planting machine comprises a plurality of zones, and wherein the sensing that the seed planting machine has reached the given location in the field being planted by the seed planting machine comprises:

sensing that the seed planting machine has reached a change in zone of the field being planted by the seed planting machine.

4. The method of claim 1 , where the adjusting is performed as directed by a processor that receives input data from a vacuum sensor to measure a vacuum within a vacuum seed meter and a speed sensor to measure a speed of the seed planting machine.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

planting the second variety of seed at the given location using the changed double eliminator.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

planting the second variety of seed at the given location using the changed double eliminator and the adjusted vacuum level.

7. A method comprising:

adjusting a changeable component of a seed planting machine when switching from a first variety of seed to a second variety of seed during planting, wherein the adjusting is based on a location of the planting machine, wherein adjusting the changeable component is performed to accommodate a physical characteristic of the second variety of seed and configures the seed planting machine to maximize performance of planting the second variety of seed.
