Abstract

A transmission method in the present disclosure includes; obtaining an image and image signal characteristics information indicating one of an opto-electrical transfer function (OETF) or an electro-optical transfer function (EOTF) as image signal characteristics of the image; and transmitting a signal including the image and the image signal characteristics information. According to the transmission method in the present disclosure, a receiving device that received a high dynamic range (HDR) image and a standard dynamic range (SDR) image transmitted through broadcasting or the like can display these images appropriately.

Claims (10)

1. A receiving device comprising:

a first receiving circuit configured to receive a first content, the first content conforming to High Dynamic Range (HDR);

a second receiving circuit configured to receive a second content to be displayed with the first content, the second content conforming to Standard Dynamic Range (SDR), the second content including at least one of a caption or an image;

a converting circuit configured to convert the second content to a first converted content with a scale factor such that the first converted content conforms to HDR when the scale factor is received, the converting circuit being configured to convert the second content to a second converted content with a default value such that the second converted content conforms to HDR if the scale factor is not received, the scale factor being described in Timed Text Markup Language (TTML); and

a non-transitory memory configured to store the default value.

2. The receiving device according to claim 1 , wherein

the first receiving circuit is configured to receive the first content from a first network, and

the second receiving circuit is configured to receive the second content and the scale factor from a second network.

3. The receiving device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a display to display the first content and the second content in a state where the second content is overlaid on the first content.
