Abstract

The present invention provides compositions comprising cellulose fibers and cellulose ester fibers and wet laid articles made from the compositions, as well as wet laid processes to produce these compositions. More specifically, the present invention provided compositions comprising cellulose fibers and cellulose acetate fibers and wet laid articles made from these compositions as well as wet laid processes to produce these compositions. The present invention also relates to composition, process, wet laid product, or articles exhibiting any one of many desired benefits. The invention also relates to a composition comprising cellulose fiber and a staple fiber exhibiting improved texturing.

Claims (16)

1. A composition comprising cellulose fiber and a staple fiber without a binder that imparts hydrolyzability to said composition; wherein the cellulose fibers and staple fibers are co-refined; wherein said staple fiber comprises cellulose acetate in an amount from about 4 wt % to less than 16 wt %; and wherein said staple fiber has a dpf of at least 1.8 to less than 3; and wherein said staple fibers have a cut length of less than 6 mm and crimping; and wherein a paper product formed by said composition exhibits a deeper embossing than a composition comprising 100% comparative cellulose fiber.

2. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the depth of embossing is greater than 1% as compared to 100% comparative cellulose fiber.

3. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the depth of embossing is greater than 10% as compared to 100% comparative cellulose fiber.

4. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the depth of embossing is greater than 20% as compared to 100% comparative cellulose fiber.

5. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the depth of embossing is greater than 30% as compared to 100% comparative cellulose fiber.

6. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the depth of embossing is greater than 40% as compared to 100% comparative cellulose fiber.

7. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the depth of embossing is greater than 50% as compared to 100% comparative cellulose fiber.

8. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the depth of embossing is greater than 60% as compared to 100% comparative cellulose fiber.

9. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the depth of embossing is greater than 70% as compared to 100% comparative cellulose fiber.

10. The composition according to claim 1 wherein said cellulose acetate is in an amount of about 4 to about 15 wt %.

11. The composition according to claim 1 wherein said cellulose acetate is in an amount of about 4 to about 5 wt %.

12. The composition according to claim 1 wherein said cellulose acetate is in an amount of about 4 to 10 wt %.

13. The composition according to claim 1 wherein said cellulose acetate is in an amount of about 4 to 6 wt %.

14. The composition according to claim 1 where said cellulose acetate has a degree of substitution of less than 2.5.

15. The composition according to claim 1 where said cellulose acetate has a degree of substitution of less than 2.4.

16. The composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition is compostable.
