Abstract

A suspension mount comprising a carrier with a first portion and a second portion, an activatable material selectively disposed on the carrier, one or more bridges connecting the first portion and the second portion of the carrier, wherein the first portion and the second portion of the carrier each include one or more damper mounts, and wherein the first portion corresponds to a left side and the second portion corresponds to the right side so that the suspension mount is attachable to a vehicle in one direction.

Claims (23)

1. A suspension mount system comprising:

a first suspension mount for a right side of a vehicle and a second suspension mount for the left side of a vehicle, both of the first and second suspension mounts comprising:

a) a carrier with a first portion and a second portion;

b) an activatable material selectively disposed on the carrier;

c) one or more bridges connecting the first portion and the second portion of the carrier;

wherein the first portion and the second portion of the carrier each include one or more damper mounts; and

wherein the first portion corresponds to a left side and the second portion corresponds to the right side so that the suspension mount is attachable to a vehicle in one direction.

2. The suspension mount of claim 1 , wherein the carrier includes one or more reinforcements.

3. The suspension mount of claim 2 , wherein the one or more bridges is a first bridge and a second bridge.

4. The suspension mount of claim 1 , wherein each of the one or more damper mounts includes one or more mounting tabs.

5. The suspension mount of claim 4 , wherein the activatable material is selectively activatable with a stimulus.

6. The suspension mount of claim 2 , wherein the one or more damper mounts are surrounded by activatable material.

7. The suspension mount of claim 1 , wherein the activatable material attaches the carrier to the vehicle upon activation, and wherein the activatable material provides sealing and baffling to the suspension mount.

8. The suspension mount of claim 2 , wherein the carrier is formed of plastic, steel, composite, or both.

9. The suspension mount of claim 8 , wherein the one or more bridges include activatable material.

10. The suspension mount of claim 2 , wherein the activatable material bonds the carrier within a cavity of a vehicle.

11. The suspension mount of claim 3 , wherein the first bridge is located at a first end of the carrier and the second bridge is located at a second end of the carrier, forming an open space between the first portion and the second portion.

12. The suspension mount of claim 2 , wherein the one or more reinforcements is a plurality of ribs located on the first portion and the second portion between a first end wall and a second end wall, and between an inner edge and an outer edge.

13. The suspension mount of claim 1 , wherein the suspension mount is adapted to be located within a cavity of the vehicle, and wherein the suspension mount increases structural rigidity and modulus of the cavity.

14. The suspension mount of claim 4 , wherein the one or more reinforcements is a plurality of ribs located on the first portion and the second portion between a first end wall and a second end wall, and between an inner edge and an outer edge.

15. The suspension mount of claim 2 , wherein the first bridge is located at a first end of the carrier and the second bridge is located a second end of the carrier, forming an open space between the first portion and the second portion.

16. The suspension mount of claim 12 , wherein the first bridge is located at a first end of the carrier and the second bridge is located a second end of the carrier, forming an open space between the first portion and the second portion.

17. The suspension mount of claim 8 , wherein the suspension mount is adapted to be located within a cavity of the vehicle, and wherein the suspension mount increases structural rigidity and modulus of the cavity.
