Abstract

A charging device for providing power from a power supply to an electronic device is provided. The charging device includes a detachable first electrical connector connected to a wired or wireless power output port, and a detachable second electrical connector attached to the power supply. The power output port is configured to provide power to the electronic device when the first electrical connector is connected to the power supply.

Claims (34)

1. A charging device for providing power from a power supply to an electronic device, the charging device comprising:

a detachable first electrical connector connected to one or more wired or wireless power output ports;

a detachable second electrical connector attached to the power supply; and

a power cord having a first end and a second end,

wherein the first end of the power cord is disposed inside a furniture item and configured to attach to the first electrical connector inside the furniture item,

wherein the second end of the power cord is disposed outside the furniture item and configured to attach to the second electrical connector outside the furniture item,

wherein the one or more power output ports are configured to provide power to the electronic device when the first electrical connector is connected to the power supply, and

wherein, when the first electrical connector is detached from the first end of the power cord inside the furniture item, the power supply is disconnected from all power output ports, including the one or more power output ports.

2. The charging device of claim 1 , wherein when either of the first electrical connector or the second electrical connector is in a detached state, then the one or more power output ports are not connected to the power supply.

3. The charging device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more power output ports are embedded inside of furniture and is positioned a predetermined distance below a top surface of the furniture.

4. The charging device of claim 3 , wherein the first electrical connector and the one or more power output ports are accessible via a service access point for accessing an interior cavity of the furniture.

5. The charging device of claim 1 , wherein the power supply is a power adapter connected to a wall power supply and includes a universal serial bus (USB) port to output power.

6. The charging device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more power output ports comprise a wireless charging pad for wireless charging.

7. The charging device of claim 6 , wherein the one or more power output ports are formed to fit into a cup holder of an armrest in furniture and the first electrical connector runs through a bottom section of the cup holder to access an interior of the armrest.

8. The charging device of claim 6 , wherein the one or more power output ports comprising the wireless charging pad for wireless charging further comprises a universal serial bus (USB) port for wired charging.

9. The charging device of claim 6 , wherein the one or more power output ports comprising the wireless charging pad for wireless charging is positioned in a portion of a sofa cushion such that the wireless charging pad is accessible when the portion of the sofa cushion is in a flipped-down state.

10. The charging device of claim 6 , wherein the one or more power output ports comprising the wireless charging pad further comprises a locking mechanism that fits inside a pre-bored hole such that, when the locking mechanism is in a locked position, an outer edge of the wireless charging pad is flush with a surrounding surface.

11. The charging device of claim 10 , wherein the locking mechanism has a first diameter when the locking mechanism is in an unlocked position and a second diameter when the locking mechanism is in the locked position, and

wherein the second diameter is larger than the first diameter.

12. The charging device of claim 10 , wherein the locking mechanism further comprises elastic latches and, when the locking mechanism is twisted in a predetermined direction, the elastic latches protrude in a direction away from a center of the locking mechanism to increase a diameter of the locking mechanism.

13. The charging device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more power output ports comprise a power outlet positioned inside of a middle section of a sofa, and

wherein the power outlet is accessible by flipping open a door on the middle section of the sofa.

14. A charging device for providing power from a power supply to a first electronic device and a second electronic device, the charging device comprising:

a detachable first electrical connector connected to one or more wireless power output ports;

a universal serial bus (USB) extension cord connected to the power supply and configured to supply power to the first electronic device, and

a power cord having a first end and a second end,

wherein the first end of the power cord is disposed inside a furniture item and configured to attach to the first electrical connector inside the furniture item,

wherein the second end of the power cord is disposed outside the furniture item and configured to attach to the power supply outside the furniture item,

wherein the one or more wireless power output ports are configured to wirelessly provide power to the second electronic device when the first electrical connector is connected to the power supply, and

wherein, when the first electrical connector is detached from the first end of the power cord inside the furniture item, the power supply is disconnected from all power output ports, including the one or more wireless power output ports.

15. A charging device for providing power from a power supply to an electronic device, the charging device comprising:

a detachable electrical connector connected to one or more wired or wireless power output ports,

wherein the one or more power output ports are configured to provide power to the electronic device when the electrical connector is connected to the power supply via a power cord, and

wherein, when the electrical connector is detached from the power cord inside a furniture item, the power supply is disconnected from all power output ports, including the one or more power output ports.
