Abstract

An organic electroluminescence device and a polycyclic compound, the device including a first electrode; a hole transport region on the first electrode; an emission layer on the hole transport region; an electron transport region on the emission layer; and a second electrode on the electron transport region, wherein the emission layer includes a polycyclic compound represented by the following Formula 1:

Claims (119)

1. An organic electroluminescence device, comprising:

a first electrode;

a hole transport region on the first electrode;

an emission layer on the hole transport region;

an electron transport region on the emission layer; and

a second electrode on the electron transport region,

wherein the first electrode and the second electrode each independently comprise at least one selected from Ag, Mg, Cu, Al, Pt, Pd, Au, Ni, Nd, Ir, Cr, Li, Ca, LiF/Ca, LiF/Al, Mo, Ti, In, Sn, and Zn, a compound of two or more thereof, a mixture of two or more thereof, and oxides thereof, and

wherein the emission layer includes a polycyclic compound represented by any one among the following Formulae 1, 1-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4, or 5:

wherein, in Formula 1,

R 1 to R 3 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms ring, or a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms,

a to c are each independently an integer of 0 to 3, and

X 3 to X 6 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, X 3 to X 6 being separate or combined with an adjacent group to form a ring, and X 1 and X 2 combine to form a group represented by the following Formulae 2-1 or 2-2:

wherein, in Formula 1-1,

A 1 and A 2 are each independently a direct linkage, S, SiR 12 R 13 , or CR 14 R 15 ,

R 12 to R 15 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, and

X 1 and X 2 combine to form a group represented by the following Formula 2-2,

R 1 to R 3 , and a to c are defined the same as those of Formula 1:

R 17 to R 21 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, R 17 to R 21 being separate or combined with an adjacent group to form a ring, and

* represents a binding site to Formula 1,

wherein, in Formula 2-2,

A 3 is NR 17 , S, SiR 18 R 19 , or CR 20 R 21 ,

R 4 , R 5 and R 10 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, R 4 and R 10 being separate or combined with an adjacent group to form a ring,

R 17 to R 21 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, R 17 to R 21 being separate or combined with an adjacent group to form a ring,

when Ar 3 is CR 20 R 21 , R 20 and R 21 are combined with each other to form a ring, and

wherein, in Formulae 3-1,

R 1 to R 3 are defined the same as those of Formula 1,

R 23 to R 27 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, R 23 to R 27 being separate or combined with an adjacent group to form a ring,

Ar 2 is a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, and

X 5 , X 6 , R 1 to R 5 , Ar 1 , and a to e are defined the same as those of Formula 1, Formula 2-1, and Formula 3-1, and

wherein, in Formula 5,

R 6 to R 9 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, R 6 to R 9 being separate or combined with an adjacent group to form a ring,

f to i are each independently an integer of 0 to 4,

Ar 2 and Ar 3 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, and

R 1 to R 5 , Ar 1 , and a to e are defined the same as those of Formula 1, Formula 2-1, and Formula 3-1.

2. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the emission layer emits delayed fluorescence.

3. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein:

the emission layer is a delayed fluorescence emission layer including a host and a dopant, and

the dopant includes the compound represented by Formula 1.

4. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the emission layer is a thermally activated delayed fluorescence emission layer that emits blue light.

5. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the compound represented by Formula 4 is represented by the following Formula 4-1:

A 5 is a direct linkage, NR 29 , O, S, SiR 30 R 31 , or CR 32 R 33 ,

R 29 to R 33 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, R 29 to R 33 being separate or combined with an adjacent group to form a ring, and

R 1 to R 7 , Ar 1 , Ar 2 , and a to g are defined the same as those of Formula 4.

6. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein Ar 1 in Formulae 3-1, 4, and 5 is a group represented by one of Ar 1 -1 to Ar 1 -3:

R 10 is a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms,

m is an integer of 0 to 4, and

* represents a binding site.

7. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the polycyclic compound represented by Formulae 1, 1-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4, or 5 is a compound of the following Compound Group 1:

8. A polycyclic compound represented by the following Formulae 1, 1-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4, or 5:

wherein, in Formula 1,

R 1 to R 3 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms ring, or a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms,

a to c are each independently an integer of 0 to 3, and

R 6 to R 9 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a hydroxyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiol group, a substituted or unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, R 6 to R 9 being separate or combined with an adjacent group to form a ring,

Ar 2 and Ar 3 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a substituted or unsubstituted amine group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 2 to 30 ring carbon atoms, and

R 1 to R 5 , Ar 1 , and a to e are defined the same as those of Formula 1, Formula 2-1, and Formula 3-1.

9. The polycyclic compound as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the polycyclic compound represented by Formulae 1, 1-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4, or 5 is a compound of the following Compound Group 1:
