Abstract

The present invention relates to an image encoding/decoding method and device, and the image encoding method or device according to an embodiment of the present invention may encode a position of a reference coefficient within a current transform block to be encoded, and encoding skip region information of a skip region selected on the basis of the position of the reference coefficient. The skip region information may represent whether or not coefficients within the skip region have an identical coefficient value.

Claims (35)

1. A method of decoding an image, the method comprising:

receiving a bitstream including coefficient information of a current transform block, the coefficient information including a significant coefficient flag of a current transformed coefficient, the significant coefficient flag indicating whether the current transform coefficient is a non-zero; and

entropy-decoding the significant coefficient flag of the current transform coefficient from the bitstream,

wherein entropy-decoding the significant coefficient flag comprises:

determining a region to which the current transform coefficient belongs among a plurality of regions in the current transform block;

determining probability information for the significant coefficient flag based on the determined region; and

decoding the significant coefficient flag according to the probability information,

wherein the current transform block is divided into three regions including a first region, a second region, and a third region,

wherein the first region includes a top-left corner coefficient, a right neighboring coefficient adjacent to the top-left corner coefficient, and a bottom neighboring coefficient adjacent to the top-left corner coefficient,

wherein the third region includes a bottom-right corner coefficient and neighboring coefficients adjacent to the bottom-right corner coefficient, and

wherein the second region is located between the first region and the third region.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the probability information for the significant coefficient flag is determined by further considering a number of neighboring coefficients with a significant coefficient flag equal to 1 among neighboring coefficients adjacent to the current transform coefficient.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the neighboring coefficients adjacent to the current transform coefficient include five coefficients with coordinates of (x+1, y), (x+2, y), (x+1, y+1), (x, y+1), and (x, y+2), and

wherein x and y are representative of coordinates of the current transform coefficient.

4. A method of encoding an image, the method comprising:

obtaining coefficient information of a current transform block, the coefficient information including a significant coefficient flag of a current transform coefficient, the significant coefficient flag indicating whether the current transform coefficient is a non-zero; and

generating a bitstream by encoding the coefficient information of the current transform block,

wherein encoding the coefficient information comprising entropy-encoding the significant coefficient flag of the current transform coefficient,

wherein entropy-encoding the significant coefficient flag comprises:

determining a region to which the current transform coefficient belongs among a plurality of regions in the current transform block;

determining probability information for the significant coefficient flag based on the determined region; and

encoding the significant coefficient flag according to the probability information,

wherein the current transform block is divided into three regions including a first region, a second region, and a third region,

wherein the first region includes a top-left corner coefficient, a right neighboring coefficient adjacent to the top-left corner coefficient, and a bottom neighboring coefficient adjacent to the top-left corner coefficient,

wherein the third region includes a bottom-right corner coefficient and neighboring coefficients adjacent to the bottom-right corner coefficient, and

wherein the second region is located between the first region and the third region.

5. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a bitstream associated with an image signal,

wherein the bitstream includes coefficient information of a current transform block,

wherein the coefficient information includes a significant coefficient flag of a current transform coefficient, the significant coefficient flag indicating whether the current transform coefficient is a non-zero,
