Abstract

An electronic device includes a cover layer, a light control panel, an optical fingerprint sensor and a first light source disposed at the same side of the cover layer. The first light source is for fingerprint sensing and capable of providing a light of which half-value angle is between −15° and 15°.

Claims (35)

1. An electronic device, comprising:

a cover layer;

a light control panel;

an optical fingerprint sensor;

a first light source; and

an adjustable light transmittance layer disposed between the light control panel and the first light source and the adjustable light transmittance layer is in a diffusing state when the electronic device is in a display mode;

wherein the light control panel, the optical fingerprint sensor and the first light source are disposed at a same side of the cover layer and the first light source is for fingerprint sensing and capable of providing a light of which half-value angle is between −15° and 15°.

2. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the light enters the cover layer before entering the light control panel for a first time when reflected by a detected object.

3. The electronic device according to claim 1 , wherein a direction of the light has an oblique angle with respect to a normal direction of the cover layer.

4. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the first light source is turned off when the electronic device is not in a fingerprint sensing mode.

5. The electronic device of claim 4 , further comprising:

a second light source, wherein the second light source is turned on when the electronic device is in a display mode and the second light source is turned off when the electronic device is in the fingerprint sensing mode.

6. The electronic device according to claim 1 , further comprising an optical structure layer, wherein the light control panel is disposed on the optical structure layer.

7. The electronic device according to claim 6 , further comprising a light guide plate, wherein the optical structure layer is disposed on the light guide plate.

8. The electronic device according to claim 7 , further comprising a diffusing layer disposed between the optical structure layer and the light guide plate.

9. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the adjustable light transmittance layer is in a transparent state when the electronic device is in a fingerprint sensing mode.

10. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein a direction of the light which provided by the first light source is parallel to a normal direction of the cover layer.

11. An electronic device, comprising:

a cover layer;

a backlight;

a light control panel disposed between the cover layer and the backlight;

an optical adjustable structure between the cover layer and the backlight;

an adjustable light transmittance layer disposed between the light control panel and the backlight and the adjustable light transmittance layer is in a diffusing state when the electronic device is in a display mode; and

an optical fingerprint sensor disposed between the cover layer and the backlight, and corresponding to the optical adjustable structure;

wherein the backlight provides a light for fingerprint sensing and the light is passing through the optical adjustable structure to become a collimated light and a half-value angle of the collimated light is between −15° and 15°.

12. The electronic device according to claim 11 , wherein the optical adjustable structure is disposed in the light control panel.

13. An electronic device, comprising:

a cover layer;

a light control panel;

a first light source; and

a second light source disposed adjacent to the first light source and providing a second light of which half-value angle is greater than −15° and 15°;

wherein the first light source is turned on and the second light source is turned off when the electronic device is in a narrow viewing angle state;

wherein the light control panel and the first light source are disposed at a same side of the cover layer and the first light source provides a first light of which half-value angle is between −15° and 15°.

14. The electronic device of claim 13 , wherein the first light source is turned off and the second light source is turned on when the electronic device is in a wide viewing angle state.

15. The electronic device according to claim 13 , wherein a direction of the first light which provided by the first light source is parallel to a normal direction of the cover layer.
