Abstract

Example methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture (e.g., non-transitory physical storage media) to provide trust topology selection for distributed transaction processing in computing environments are disclosed herein. Example distributed transaction processing nodes disclosed herein include a distributed transaction application to process a transaction in a computing environment based on at least one of a centralized trust topology or a diffuse trust topology. Disclosed example distributed transaction processing nodes also include a trusted execution environment to protect first data associated with a centralized trust topology and to protect second data associated with a diffuse trust topology. Disclosed example distributed transaction processing nodes further include a trust topology selector to selectively configure the distributed transaction application to use the at least one of the centralized trust topology or the diffuse trust topology to process the transaction.

Claims (37)

1. An apparatus to process distributed transactions, the apparatus comprising:

memory; and

at least one processor to execute computer readable instructions to:

process a transaction based on a centralized trust topology when a first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology exceeds a second trust value associated with a diffuse trust topology; and

process the transaction based on the diffuse trust topology when the second trust value associated with the diffuse trust topology exceeds the first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is to:

process the transaction based on the centralized trust topology when (i) the first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology equals the second trust value associated with the diffuse trust topology, and (ii) a first quality of service value associated with the centralized trust topology exceeds a second quality of service value associated with the diffuse trust topology; and

process the transaction based on the diffuse trust topology when (i) the first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology equals the second trust value associated with the diffuse trust topology, and (ii) the second quality of service value associated with the diffuse trust topology exceeds the first quality of service value associated with the centralized trust topology.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is to protect first data and second data with a trusted execution environment, the first data including first cryptographic key data and first blockchain data associated with a first blockchain that is to implement the centralized trust topology, the second data including second cryptographic key data and second blockchain data associated with a second blockchain that is to implement the diffuse trust topology.

4. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the first blockchain is a private blockchain and the second blockchain is a public blockchain.

5. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the transaction is a first transaction, and the at least one processor is to backup a record of a second transaction from the first blockchain to the second blockchain.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is to process the transaction based on the diffuse trust topology when the apparatus is blocked from the centralized trust topology based on a failed peer attestation.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is to:

monitor telemetry data associated with operation of the apparatus;

isolate the apparatus from the centralized trust topology in response to detection of an event based on the telemetry data; and

process the transaction based on the diffuse trust topology in response to isolation of the apparatus from the centralized trust topology.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is at least one of a mobile phone, a tablet device, a drone or an autonomous vehicle.

9. At least one non-transitory computer readable medium comprising computer readable instructions that, when executed, cause at least one processor to at least:

process a transaction based on a centralized trust topology when a first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology exceeds a second trust value associated with a diffuse trust topology; and

process the transaction based on the diffuse trust topology when the second trust value associated with the diffuse trust topology exceeds the first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology.

10. The at least one non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions cause the at least one processor to:

process the transaction based on the centralized trust topology when (i) the first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology equals the second trust value associated with the diffuse trust topology, and (ii) a first quality of service value associated with the centralized trust topology exceeds a second quality of service value associated with the diffuse trust topology; and

process the transaction based on the diffuse trust topology when (i) the first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology equals the second trust value associated with the diffuse trust topology, and (ii) the second quality of service value associated with the diffuse trust topology exceeds the first quality of service value associated with the centralized trust topology.

11. The at least one non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions cause the at least one processor to protect first data and second data with a trusted execution environment, the first data including first cryptographic key data and first blockchain data associated with a first blockchain that is to implement the centralized trust topology, and the second data including second cryptographic key data and second blockchain data associated with a second blockchain that is to implement the diffuse trust topology.

12. The at least one non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the first blockchain is a private blockchain and the second blockchain is a public blockchain.

13. The at least one non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the transaction is a first transaction, and the instructions cause the at least one processor to backup a record of a second transaction from the first blockchain to the second blockchain.

14. The at least one non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions cause the at least one processor to process the transaction based on the diffuse trust topology when access to the centralized trust topology is blocked based on a failed peer attestation.

15. A method to process distributed transactions, the method comprising:

processing, by executing an instruction with at least one processor, a transaction based on a centralized trust topology when a first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology exceeds a second trust value associated with a diffuse trust topology; and

processing, by executing an instruction with the at least one processor, the transaction based on the diffuse trust topology when the second trust value associated with the diffuse trust topology exceeds the first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology.

16. The method of claim 15 , further including:

processing the transaction based on the centralized trust topology when (i) the first trust value associated with the centralized trust topology equals the second trust value associated with the diffuse trust topology, and (ii) a first quality of service value associated with the centralized trust topology exceeds a second quality of service value associated with the diffuse trust topology; and
