Abstract

A biosensing device includes a sensor module and an electric signal transducer. The sensor module includes a biosensor adapted for measuring a biosignal of a host, and a fixed seat including a conducting member that is electrically connected to the biosensor. The electric signal transducer is for receiving and sending the biosignal measured by the biosensor, is coupled to the sensor module, and includes an electric signal unit electrically connected to the conducting member, and a battery connected to the electric signal unit. The electric signal unit has two electrical contacts that cooperatively define a switch. The battery provides power supply to the biosensor when the electric signal transducer is coupled to the sensor module.

Claims (38)

an electric signal transducer that is for receiving and sending the biosignal measured by said biosensor, that is coupled to said sensor module along a direction of a second axis, and that includes an electric signal unit electrically connected to said at least one conducting member, and a battery connected to said electric signal unit;

wherein, said conducting member of said electric connection unit of said fixed seat includes a plurality of conductive layers and a plurality of insulating layers that are disposed in an alternating arrangement along a direction of a first axis, which is not parallel to the second axis;

wherein, said electric signal unit of said electric signal transducer has two electrical contacts, said sensor module and said electric signal transducer being separated before use such that said electrical contacts cooperatively define a switch which is in an open circuit state by default; and

wherein, when said biosensor is inserted into the host, said sensor module is simultaneously coupled to said electric signal transducer, such that said conducting members tightly contact the electrical contacts of said electric signal unit to enable said battery of said electric signal transducer to provide power to said biosensor.

2. The biosensing device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein:

said biosensor is adapted to be guided by a guiding needle for insertion into the host, and has

a sensing section, at least a portion of which is to be inserted into the host and extends along the direction of the second axis, and

a signal output section that extends along the direction of the first axis and that is electrically connected to said conducting member of said electric connection unit; and

the first and second axes are coplanar and cooperatively define an angle therebetween on the biosensor, which does not change substantially before and after the insertion operation of said biosensor.

3. The biosensing device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein:

said fixed seat further includes a positioning groove; and

said conducting member of said electric connection unit of said fixed seat is permitted to be urged by groove walls of said positioning groove to tightly contact said biosensor.

4. The biosensing device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein:

said conducting member of said electric connection unit of said fixed seat is a hexahedral structure, and has a first conducting surface that is connected to said biosensor, and a second conducting surface that is connected to said electric signal unit of said electric signal transducer, said first and second conducting surfaces being adjacent to each other.

5. The biosensing device as claimed in claim 4 , wherein:

said biosensor has a signal output section that corresponds in position to said first conducting surface of said conducting member; and

7. The biosensing device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein:

said electric signal transducer further includes a transducing unit; and

when said electric signal transducer is coupled to said sensor module, said biosensor receives electric power via said conducting member of said electric connection unit of said fixed seat while said battery of said electric signal transducer provides electric power to said transducing unit, such that said transducing unit is permitted to receive the biosignal measured by said biosensor and is adapted to send the biosignal to a receiving device.

8. The biosensing device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein:

said biosensor has a sensing section and a signal output section that is electrically connected to said conducting member of said electric connection unit, and that has a surface area larger than that of said sensing section; and

a length of said sensing section in the direction along the second axis ranges between 3 millimeters to 20 millimeters, and a width thereof ranges between 0.3 millimeters to 1.0 millimeters.

9. The biosensing device as claimed in claim 8 , wherein:

said biosensor is substantially flat and has a base plate, a working electrode, and a counter electrode; and

each of said working and counter electrodes is mounted to said base plate, partially defines said sensing section, and partially defines said signal output section.
