Abstract

A system can access data about items for a store and generate a plan for configuring the store based on the accessed data. The system can further provide, for example, information for configuring reconfigurable shelving units so as to produce the layout of the store according to the plan.

Claims (27)

1. A computer system, comprising:

one or more processors; and

a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored therein instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors of the computer system, cause the computer system to at least:

acquire consumer products sensor data directly from at least one sensor in at least one of a retail store and a warehouse, the retail store and the warehouse comprising a plurality of shelving units, where at least one of the plurality of shelving units comprises a reconfigurable shelving unit;

generate a retail store layout for the retail store or a warehouse layout for the warehouse using the acquired consumer products sensor data, where the retail store layout or the warehouse layout includes reconfiguration information of the reconfigurable shelving unit; and

send command signals representative of the reconfiguration information to at least one device, such that the reconfigurable shelving unit is reconfigured by the at least one device in response to receiving the command signals.

2. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one device includes at least one of a robot and an automated component.

3. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein further instructions cause the computer system to generate an image of a virtual representation of the retail store layout for the retail store or the warehouse layout for the warehouse, such that the image is displayed by at least one display unit.

4. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the acquired consumer products sensor data is acquired from at least one type of sensor employed within the retail store or the warehouse from the following types: cameras, shelving units sensors, proximity sensors, weight sensors, seismic sensors, wireless sensors, and RFID (radio-frequency identification) sensors.

5. A computer system, comprising:

one or more processors; and

a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored therein instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors of the computer system, cause the computer system to at least:

acquire sensor data directly from at least one sensor in a retail store and associated with a set of people comprising at least one of a consumer or prospective consumer of the retail store, the retail store comprising a plurality of shelving units, where at least one of the plurality of shelving units comprises a reconfigurable shelving unit;

generate a retail store layout plan using the acquired sensor data, where the retail store layout includes reconfiguration information of the reconfigurable shelving unit; and

send command signals representative of the reconfiguration information to at least one device, such that the reconfigurable shelving unit is reconfigured by the at least one device in response to receiving the command signals.

6. The computer system of claim 5 , wherein the at least one device includes at least one of a robot and an automated component.

7. The computer system of claim 5 , wherein further instructions cause the computer system to generate an image of a virtual representation of the retail store layout, such that the image is displayed by at least one display unit.

8. The computer system of claim 5 , wherein the acquired sensor data is acquired from at least one type of sensor employed within the retail store from the following types: cameras, shelving units sensors, proximity sensors, weight sensors, seismic sensors, wireless sensors, and RFID (radio-frequency identification) sensors.

9. A computer system, comprising:

one or more processors; and

a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored therein instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors of the computer system, cause the computer system to at least:

acquire sensor data directly from at least one sensor in a warehouse and associated with at least one person in the warehouse, the warehouse comprising a plurality of shelving units, where at least one of the plurality of shelving units comprises a reconfigurable shelving unit;

generate a warehouse layout using the acquired sensor data, where the warehouse layout includes reconfiguration information of the reconfigurable shelving unit; and

send command signals representative of the reconfiguration information to at least one device, such that the reconfigurable shelving unit is reconfigured by the at least one device in response to receiving the command signals.

10. The computer system of claim 9 , wherein the at least one device includes at least one of a robot and an automated component.

11. The computer system of claim 9 , wherein further instructions cause the computer system to generate an image of a virtual representation of the warehouse layout, such that the image is displayed by at least one display unit.

12. The computer system of claim 9 , wherein the acquired sensor data is acquired from at least one type of sensor employed within the warehouse from the following types: cameras, shelving units sensors, proximity sensors, weight sensors, seismic sensors, wireless sensors, and RFID (radio-frequency identification) sensors.
