Abstract

A printing device includes: an image recording unit configured to record an image on a printing medium; a cutter unit configured to cut the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit; and a medium receiving unit configured to receive the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit. The cutter unit is positioned frontward of the image recording unit in a frontward direction. The medium receiving unit is positioned below the cutter unit at a time of an image recording operation and being detachable in the frontward direction.

Claims (53)

1. A printing device comprising:

a housing;

an image recording unit configured to record an image on a printing medium;

a cutter unit configured to cut the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit, the cutter unit being positioned frontward of the image recording unit in a frontward direction; and

a medium receiving unit configured to receive the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit, the medium receiving unit being positioned below the cutter unit and within the housing at a time of an image recording operation, the medium receiving unit being detachable in the frontward direction.

2. The printing device according to claim 1 , wherein the cutter unit comprises:

a blade holding portion holding a cutter blade for cutting the printing medium; and

a cutting guide portion configured to guide movement of the blade holding portion for cutting the printing medium, the cutting guide portion being positioned above the printing medium to be cut by the cutter blade.

3. The printing device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a conveying unit configured to convey the printing medium from the image recording unit to the cutter unit in the frontward direction;

a medium guide portion configured to guide the printing medium conveyed by the conveying unit in the frontward direction; and

a switching mechanism configured to allow the medium guide portion to move between a first position and a second position displaced below from the first position, the switching mechanism at the first position allowing the medium guide portion to guide the printing medium at a position between the image recording unit and the cutter unit in the frontward direction.

4. The printing device according to claim 3 , wherein the cutter unit comprises:

a blade holding portion holding a cutter blade for cutting the printing medium; and

a cutting guide portion configured to guide movement of the blade holding portion for cutting the printing medium, the blade holding portion being positioned frontward of the cutting guide portion in the frontward direction,

wherein at least a part of the cutting guide portion is positioned to overlap with the medium guide portion in an upward/downward direction crossing the frontward direction.

5. The printing device according to claim 3 , wherein the switching mechanism comprises a rod movable in the frontward direction and a rearward direction opposite the frontward direction,

wherein the medium guide portion is movable between the first position and the second position in association with movement of the rod in the frontward direction and rearward direction.

6. The printing device according to claim 1 , wherein the cutter unit comprises:

a blade holding portion holding a cutter blade for cutting the printing medium; and

a cutting guide portion configured to guide movement of the blade holding portion for cutting the printing medium, the blade holding portion being positioned frontward of the cutting guide portion in the frontward direction.

7. The printing device according to claim 1 , wherein the cutter unit comprises:

a blade holding portion holding a cutter blade for cutting the printing medium; and

a cutting guide portion configured to guide movement of the blade holding portion for cutting the printing medium,

the printing device further comprising a fastener configured to connect the blade holding portion and the cutting guide portion to each other from a lower side of the blade holding portion,

wherein the fastener is switchable in state thereof between a fastening state and a loosened state, the blade holding portion and the cutting guide portion being fastened together in the fastening state of the fastener, fastening between the blade holding portion and the cutting guide portion being loosened in the loosened state of the fastener.

8. The printing device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a medium accommodation unit detachable from and attachable to the housing, the medium accommodation unit being configured to accommodate the printing medium to be conveyed to the image recording unit,

wherein the medium receiving unit is positioned above the medium accommodation unit when the medium accommodation unit and the medium receiving unit are attached to the housing.

9. A printing device comprising:

an image recording unit configured to record an image on a printing medium;

a cutter unit configured to cut the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit, the cutter unit being positioned frontward of the image recording unit in a frontward direction; and

a medium receiving unit configured to receive the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit, the medium receiving unit being positioned below the cutter unit and at least part of the medium receiving unit is aligned with the cutter unit in an upward/downward direction crossing the frontward direction at a time of an image recording operation, the medium receiving unit being detachable in the frontward direction.

10. A printing device comprising:

an image recording unit configured to record an image on a printing medium;

a cutter unit configured to cut the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit, the cutter unit being positioned frontward of the image recording unit in a frontward direction;

a conveying unit configured to convey the printing medium from the image recording unit to the cutter unit in the frontward direction;

a medium guide portion configured to guide the printing medium conveyed by the conveying unit in the frontward direction;

a medium receiving unit configured to receive the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit, the medium receiving unit being positioned below the cutter unit at a time of an image recording operation and being detachable in the frontward direction; and

a switching mechanism configured to allow the medium guide portion to move between a first position and a second position displaced below from the first position, the switching mechanism at the first position allowing the medium guide portion to guide the printing medium at a position between the image recording unit and the cutter unit in the frontward direction.

11. The printing device according to claim 10 , wherein the cutter unit comprises:

a blade holding portion holding a cutter blade for cutting the printing medium; and

a cutting guide portion configured to guide movement of the blade holding portion for cutting the printing medium, the blade holding portion being positioned frontward of the cutting guide portion in the frontward direction,

wherein at least a part of the cutting guide portion is positioned to overlap with the medium guide portion in an upward/downward direction crossing the frontward direction.

12. The printing device according to claim 10 , wherein the switching mechanism comprises a rod movable in the frontward direction and a rearward direction opposite the frontward direction, and

wherein the medium guide portion is movable between the first position and the second position in association with movement of the rod in the frontward direction and rearward direction.

13. A printing device comprising:

a housing;

an image recording unit configured to record an image on a printing medium;

a cutter unit configured to cut the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit, the cutter unit being positioned frontward of the image recording unit in a frontward direction;

a medium receiving unit configured to receive the printing medium on which the image is recorded by the image recording unit, the medium receiving unit being positioned below the cutter unit at a time of an image recording operation and being detachable from the housing in the frontward direction; and

a medium accommodation unit detachable from and attachable to the housing, the medium accommodation unit being configured to accommodate the printing medium to be conveyed to the image recording unit,

wherein the medium receiving unit is positioned above the medium accommodation unit when the medium accommodation unit and the medium receiving unit are attached to the housing.
