Abstract

A power transmission device for a noncontact power supply device includes a resonant circuit that outputs an alternating magnetic flux by power from a power source circuit, and switching elements for making the resonant circuit generate an alternating magnetic flux, and transmits power to a power receiving coil of a power reception device by the alternating magnetic flux. A power transmission controller of the power transmission device includes a transmission mode of supplying alternating power to the resonant circuit by repeating ON and OFF of switching elements by controlling switching elements. ON time in one cycle of operation of each of switching elements used in the transmission mode is a first fixed value. Accordingly, the power transmission device in a simplified configuration can be provided.

Claims (8)

1. A power transmission device for a noncontact power supply device, the power transmission device comprising: a resonant circuit that outputs an alternating magnetic flux by power supplied from a power source circuit; a plurality of switching elements that are switched such that the alternating magnetic flux is generated in the resonant circuit; and a power transmission controller that controls the plurality of switching elements to transmit power to a power receiving coil of a power reception device by the alternating magnetic flux, wherein the power transmission controller includes a transmission mode for supplying alternating power to the resonant circuit by repeating ON and OFF of the plurality of switching elements, a time duration for which a voltage is provided to each switching element to turn ON the switching element is set as a first value, each of the first values for the switching elements is set individually in accordance with manufacturing tolerance from design value of the components in the resonant circuit, the power transmission controller includes a standby mode for supplying, to the resonant circuit, the alternating power smaller than the alternating power in the transmission mode by repeating the ON and OFF of the plurality of switching elements, a power-transmission resonance frequency applied to the resonant circuit is smaller than a drive frequency for driving the plurality of switching elements, and wherein the each of the first values is the time duration which is set individually for each of the switching elements so that, in the transmission mode, an output current supplied to the power reception device is included in a predetermined range; wherein the time duration for which a voltage is provided to each switching element to turn ON the switching element is individually set for each of the switching elements, and the time duration for which each of the voltages individually set for each of the switching elements is provided is set as the first value and wherein the drive frequency is smaller than a power-reception resonance frequency that is a resonance frequency of the power reception device.

2. The power transmission device for a noncontact power supply device according to claim 1 , wherein ON time in one cycle of operation of each of the switching elements in the standby mode is set as a second value.

3. The power transmission device for a noncontact power supply device according to claim 2 , wherein the ON time of the first value is larger than the ON time of the second value.

4. The power transmission device for a noncontact power supply device according to claim 1 , wherein the ON time is determined such that an input current supplied to the resonant circuit or an output current supplied from a power receiving unit to a load is included in a predetermined range.

5. The power transmission device for a noncontact power supply device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a voltage detecting circuit connected to the resonant circuit, wherein

the voltage detecting circuit detects a resonance voltage as a voltage of the resonant circuit, and

the power transmission controller is configured to control the transmission mode and the standby mode based on the resonance voltage.
