Abstract

A method and apparatus for measuring a dynamic crosstalk are provided. The method may include: controlling a driver configured to cause a camera to have a dynamic movement; at either one or both of a left eye position and a right eye position of a user, capturing a stereo pattern image output through a three-dimensional (3D) display, by the camera while the camera is in the dynamic movement; and measuring the dynamic crosstalk occurring by the 3D display based on the stereo pattern image captured by the camera.

Claims (78)

1. A method of measuring a dynamic crosstalk, the method comprising:

controlling a driver configured to cause a camera to have a dynamic movement;

at either one or both of a left eye position and a right eye position of a user, capturing a stereo pattern image output through a three-dimensional (3D) display, by the camera while the camera is in the dynamic movement; and

measuring the dynamic crosstalk occurring by the 3D display by calculating an average of the dynamic crosstalk based on a velocity of the dynamic movement of the camera.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the measuring of the dynamic crosstalk comprises:

detecting a plurality of markers that indicate a plurality of regions of the captured stereo pattern image corresponding to a maximum brightness and a minimum brightness in the captured stereo pattern image;

extracting the plurality of regions based on the plurality of markers; and

measuring the dynamic crosstalk based on a brightness value of pixels measured from each of the plurality of regions.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein, when the camera captures, as the stereo pattern image, a left image to be provided to a left eye of the user and a right image to be provided to a right eye of the user, the measuring of the dynamic crosstalk comprises:

detecting a plurality of markers that divides each of the left image and the right image into a plurality of regions;

extracting the plurality of regions based on the plurality of markers; and

measuring the dynamic crosstalk based on a statistical value of a brightness value of pixels measured from each of the plurality of regions.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the controlling of the driver comprises:

controlling the driver to cause the camera to move at a constant velocity and in a variable direction.

5. A method of measuring a dynamic crosstalk, the method comprising:

at either one or both of a left eye position and a right eye position of a user, capturing a stereo pattern image output through a three-dimensional (3D) display, by a camera while the camera is in a dynamic movement;

controlling a driver configured to cause the camera to have the dynamic movement by adjusting a pupillary distance of a face mask arranged in a direction facing the 3D display; and

measuring the dynamic crosstalk occurring by the 3D display based on the stereo pattern image captured by the camera.

6. A method of measuring a dynamic crosstalk, the method comprising:

at either one or both of a left eye position and a right eye position of a user, capturing a stereo pattern image output through a three-dimensional (3D) display, by a camera while the camera is in a dynamic movement;

controlling a driver configured to cause a position of the camera to correspond to a position of at least one eye in a face mask arranged in a direction facing the 3D display;

measuring the dynamic crosstalk occurring by the 3D display based on the stereo pattern image captured by the camera.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

capturing, at either one or both of the left eye position and the right eye position of the user, the stereo pattern image based on a pupillary distance of a face mask arranged in a direction facing the 3D display.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the capturing of the stereo pattern image comprises:

capturing the stereo pattern image in an interval while the camera moves at a constant velocity, and

the measuring of the dynamic crosstalk comprises:

measuring the dynamic crosstalk by analyzing the stereo pattern image captured in the interval while the camera moves at the constant velocity.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

compensating for the dynamic crosstalk based on a position of the camera moved by the dynamic movement.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the stereo pattern image captured by the camera comprises a first region corresponding to a first pattern image for measuring a maximum brightness, a second region corresponding to a second pattern image for measuring a minimum brightness, and a third region corresponding to a third pattern image for measuring a brightness offset of the 3D display.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the 3D display is configured to generate the stereo pattern image that matches the left eye position and the right eye position of the user, based on parameters of an optical layer obtained through 3D calibration.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the 3D display comprises:

an eye tracker or a sensor configured to detect the left eye position and the right eye position of the user,

wherein the 3D display is configured to apply rendering to positions of the stereo pattern image corresponding to the left eye position and the right eye position of the user.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the 3D display comprises at least one of a head-up display (HUD), a 3D digital information display (DID), a navigation device, a 3D mobile device, a smartphone, a smart television (TV), a smart vehicle, an Internet of things (IoT) device, a medical device, or a measurement device.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the stereo pattern image comprises a two-dimensional (2D) pattern that represents a pattern of a single color identically to a left eye and a right eye of the user, and a 3D pattern that represents patterns of contrasting colors inversely to the left eye and the right eye of the user.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the stereo pattern image comprises a 2D pattern that represents patterns of contrasting colors identically to a left eye and a right eye of the user, and a 3D pattern that represents the patterns of the contrasting colors inversely to the left eye and the right eye of the user.

16. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that are executable by a processor to perform the method of claim 1 .

17. An apparatus for measuring a dynamic crosstalk, the apparatus comprising:

a face mask in which a left eye position and a right eye position of the face mask correspond to a left eye position and a right eye position of a user, respectively;

a camera configured to capture, at either one or both of the left eye position and the right eye position in the face mask, a stereo pattern image that is output through a three-dimensional (3D) display;

a driver configured to cause the camera to have a dynamic movement; and

a processor configured to measure the dynamic crosstalk occurring by the 3D display based on the stereo pattern captured by the camera while the camera is in the dynamic movement.

18. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

detect a plurality of markers that indicate a plurality of regions of the captured stereo pattern image corresponding to a maximum brightness and a minimum brightness in the captured stereo pattern image;

extract the plurality of regions based on the plurality of markers; and

measure the dynamic crosstalk based on a brightness value of pixels measured from each of the plurality of regions.

19. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein, when the camera captures, as the stereo pattern image, a left image to be provided to a left eye of the user and a right image to be provided to a right eye of the user, the processor is further configured to:

detect a plurality of markers that divides each of the left image and the right image into a plurality of regions;

extract the plurality of regions based on the plurality of markers; and

measure the dynamic crosstalk based on a statistical value of a brightness value of pixels measured from each of the plurality of regions.

20. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

compensate for the dynamic crosstalk based on a position of the camera moved by the dynamic movement.

The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the captured stereo pattern image comprises a first region corresponding to a first pattern image for measuring a maximum brightness, a second region corresponding to a second pattern image for measuring a minimum brightness, and a third region corresponding to a third pattern image for measuring a brightness offset of the 3D display.

22. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the driver comprises:

a motor configured to provide power for causing the camera to have the dynamic movement; and

a camera mover configured to move the camera by the power in a direction and at a velocity to simulate a movement of the user.

23. The apparatus of claim 22 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

control the camera mover to move the camera at the velocity having a constant value.

24. The apparatus of claim 22 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

control the camera mover to change at least one of the direction or the velocity of the camera.

25. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein a distance between the left eye position and the right eye position in the face mask is adjustable,

wherein the processor is further configured to:

measure the dynamic crosstalk by extracting a plurality of regions from the captured stereo pattern image based on the dynamic movement and the distance between the left eye position and the right eye position that is adjusted in the face mask.

26. The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the 3D display is configured to:

generate the stereo pattern image that match the left eye position and the right eye position of the user, based on parameters of an optical layer obtained through 3D calibration.

27. The apparatus of claim 17 , further comprising:

an eye tracker or a sensor configured to detect the left eye position and the right eye position of the user,

wherein the 3D display is configured to:

apply rendering positions of the stereo pattern image that correspond to the left eye position and the right eye position of the user that are detected using the eye tracker or the sensor.

The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the stereo pattern image comprises a two-dimensional (2D) pattern that represents a pattern of a single color identically to a left eye and a right eye of the user, and a 3D pattern that represents patterns of contrasting colors inversely to the left eye and the right eye of the user.

The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the stereo pattern image comprises a 2D pattern that represents patterns of contrasting colors identically to a left eye and a right eye of the user, and a 3D pattern that represents the patterns of the contrasting colors inversely to the left eye and the right eye of the user.

The apparatus of claim 17 , wherein the 3D display comprises at least one of a head-up display (HUD), a 3D digital information display (DID), a navigation device, a 3D mobile device, a smartphone, a smart television (TV), a smart vehicle, an Internet of things (IoT) device, a medical device, or a measurement device.

31. A crosstalk testing apparatus, comprising:

at least one camera configured to capture, at either one or both of a left eye position and a right eye position of a user, a stereo pattern image output through a head-up display (HUD);

a driver configured to cause the camera to move to have a dynamic movement; and

a processor configured to measure a dynamic crosstalk occurring by the HUD by calculating an average of the dynamic crosstalk based on a velocity of the dynamic movement of the camera.
