Abstract

A wireless power system has a wireless power transmitting device and a wireless power receiving device. The wireless power transmitting device may be a wireless charging mat or other device with a charging surface. The wireless power receiving device may be a portable electronic device receiving transmitted wireless power signals from the wireless power transmitting device while resting on the charging surface. A sensor in the wireless power transmitting device or elsewhere in the system may detect user input. In response to the user input, the wireless power receiving device may display information on the state of charge of a battery in the wireless power receiving device and other charging status information on a display of the wireless power receiving device. The user input may be a finger tap on the charging surface or other user input.

Claims (30)

1. A wireless power receiving device configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transmitting device while resting on a charging surface of the wireless power transmitting device, comprising:

wireless power receiving circuitry configured to receive wireless power signals from the wireless power transmitting device;

a display;

a sensor configured to detect user input; and

control circuitry configured to, in response to the user input:

display first charging status information on the display; and

wirelessly communicate with an additional wireless power receiving device on the charging surface to cause the additional wireless power receiving device to display second charging status information on an additional display of the additional wireless power receiving device.

2. The wireless power receiving device of claim 1 , wherein the sensor is an accelerometer and wherein the user input comprises a tap on the wireless power receiving device.

3. The wireless power receiving device of claim 1 , wherein the sensor is a touch sensor and wherein the user input comprises a tap on the wireless power receiving device.

4. The wireless power receiving device of claim 1 , wherein the sensor is a microphone and wherein the user input comprises a voice command.

5. The wireless power receiving device of claim 1 , wherein the sensor is an optical sensor.

6. The wireless power receiving device of claim 1 , wherein the first charging status information comprises battery state-of-charge information for the wireless power receiving device.

7. The wireless power receiving device of claim 6 , wherein the second charging status information comprises battery state-of-charge information for the additional wireless power receiving device.

8. The wireless power receiving device of claim 1 , wherein the first charging status information comprises information on whether charging operations between the wireless power transmitting device and the wireless power receiving device are active.

9. The wireless power receiving device of claim 8 , wherein the second charging status information comprises information on whether charging operations between the wireless power transmitting device and the additional wireless power receiving device are active.

10. The wireless power receiving device of claim 1 , wherein the display is providing a blank screen prior to displaying the first charging status information.

11. The wireless power receiving device of claim 1 , wherein the displayed first charging status information covers at least 10% of the display.

12. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of a wireless power receiving device configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transmitting device while resting on a charging surface of the wireless power transmitting device, wherein the wireless power receiving device comprises wireless power receiving circuitry configured to receive wireless power signals from the wireless power transmitting device, a display, and a sensor configured to detect user input, the one or more programs including instructions for, in response to the user input:

displaying first charging status information on the display; and

wirelessly communicating with an additional wireless power receiving device on the charging surface to cause the additional wireless power receiving device to display second charging status information on an additional display of the additional wireless power receiving device.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the first charging status information comprises battery state-of-charge information for the wireless power receiving device.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the second charging status information comprises battery state-of-charge information for the additional wireless power receiving device.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the first charging status information comprises information on whether charging operations between the wireless power transmitting device and the wireless power receiving device are active.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the second charging status information comprises information on whether charging operations between the wireless power transmitting device and the additional wireless power receiving device are active.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the display is providing a blank screen prior to displaying the first charging status information.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the displayed first charging status information covers at least 10% of the display.

19. A method of operating a wireless power receiving device configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transmitting device while resting on a charging surface of the wireless power transmitting device, wherein the wireless power receiving device comprises wireless power receiving circuitry configured to receive wireless power signals from the wireless power transmitting device, a display, and a sensor configured to detect user input, the method comprising, in response to the user input:

displaying first charging status information on the display; and

wirelessly communicating with an additional wireless power receiving device on the charging surface to cause the additional wireless power receiving device to display second charging status information on an additional display of the additional wireless power receiving device.

20. The method of claim 19 , wherein the first charging status information comprises battery state-of-charge information for the wireless power receiving device and wherein the second charging status information comprises battery state-of-charge information for the additional wireless power receiving device.
