Abstract

One example method includes connecting, by a first client device associated with a user, to a video conference hosted by a video conference provider, the video conference having a plurality of participants; receiving participant information for each participant of the plurality of participants; generating, for one or more of the participants, an identity record corresponding to the respective participant, the identity record including video conference information, at least a portion of the participant information, and a cryptographic signature; appending, for each generated identity record, the respective identity record to a user contact list; and verifying at least one participant of the plurality of participants based on the user contact list.

Claims (70)

1. A method comprising:

establishing, by a video conference provider a video conference for a plurality of participants, each participant using a respective client device;

receiving, by the video conference provider for one or more of the participants, participant information for each participant of the plurality of participants;

generating, by the video conference provider for one or more of the participants, an identity record corresponding to the respective participant, the identity record including video conference information, at least a portion of the participant information, and a cryptographic signature;

appending, by the video conference provider for each generated identity record, the respective identity record to a user contact list; and

verifying, by the video conference provider, at least one participant of the plurality of participants based on the user contact list.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

obtaining identity information for one or more participants of the plurality of participants based on the respective participant information; and wherein generating the identity record for the respective participant further includes at least a portion of the identity information.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein a first participant is participating in the video conference using a first client device, and further comprising:

transmitting a request to the first client device for participant confirmation of a second participant;

receiving a response to the request from the first client device; and

updating the user contact list based on the response.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

in response to the response indicating that the second participant is not confirmed, disconnecting the second participant from the video conference, and

wherein updating the user contact list includes adding an indication that the second participant was removed from the video conference.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein a first participant is associated with a first client device, and further comprising:

receiving a request from a second client device associated with the first participant to synchronize the user contact list; and

in response to verifying the second client device is associated with the first participant, synchronizing the user contact list to the second client device.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the video conference provider from a user identity provider, user identity information associated with one or more participants of the plurality of participants; and

wherein generating the respective identity record is based on at least a portion of the user identity information.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the cryptographic signature is based on a prior record in the user contact list.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the participant information includes client device information for each participant of the plurality of participants, and wherein the respective identity record includes the respective client device information.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein a first participant is participating in the video conference using a first client device, and further comprising:

receiving an indication from the first client device that a participant of the plurality of participants is an imposter;

removing the participant from the video conference; and

updating the user contact list based on the indication.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, for each participant of the plurality of participants:

appending, by the video conference provider for each generated identity record, the respective identity record to a respective user contact list for each participant of the plurality of participants; and

verifying, by the video conference provider, each participant of the plurality of participants based on the user contact lists.

11. A system comprising:

a communications interface;

a non-transitory computer-readable medium; and

one or more processors communicatively coupled to the communications interface and the non-transitory computer-readable medium, the one or more processors configured to execute processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

establish a video conference for a plurality of participants, each participant using a respective client device;

receive participant information for each participant of the plurality of participants;

generate, for one or more of the participants, an identity record corresponding to the respective participant, the identity record including video conference information, at least a portion of the participant information, and a cryptographic signature;

append, for each generated identity record, the respective identity record to a first user contact list for a first participant of the plurality of participants; and

verify at least one participant of the plurality of participants based on the first user contact list.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

obtain identity information for one or more participants of the plurality of participants based on the respective participant information; and wherein generating the identity record for the respective participant further includes at least a portion of the identity information.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein a first participant is associated with a first client device, and wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

receive a request from a second client device associated with the first participant to synchronize the first user contact list; and

in response to verifying the second client device is associated with the first participant, synchronize the first user contact list to the second client device.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

receive, from a user identity provider, user identity information associated with one or more participants of the plurality of participants; and

wherein generation of the respective identity record is based on at least a portion of the user identity information.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first participant is participating in the video conference using a first client device, and wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:

receive an indication from the first client device that a participant of the plurality of participants is an imposter;

remove the participant from the video conference; and

update the first user contact list based on the indication.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to, for each participant of the plurality of participants:

append, for each generated identity record, the respective identity record to a respective user contact list for each participant of the plurality of participants; and

verify each participant of the plurality of participants based on the user contact lists.

17. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause one or more processors to:

establish a video conference for a plurality of participants, each participant using a respective client device;

receive participant information for each participant of the plurality of participants;

generate, for one or more of the participants, an identity record corresponding to the respective participant, the identity record including video conference information, at least a portion of the participant information, and a cryptographic signature;

append, for each generated identity record, the respective identity record to a first user contact list for a first participant of the plurality of participants; and

verify at least one participant of the plurality of participants based on the first user contact list.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein a first participant is associated with a first client device, and further comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause one or more processors to:

receive a request from a second client device associated with the first participant to synchronize the first user contact list; and

in response to verifying the second client device is associated with the first participant, synchronize the first user contact list to the second client device.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , further comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause one or more processors to:

receive, from a user identity provider, user identity information associated with one or more participants of the plurality of participants; and

wherein generation of the respective identity record is based on at least a portion of the user identity information.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the first participant is participating in the video conference using a first client device and further comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause one or more processors to:

receive an indication from the first client device that a participant of the plurality of participants is an imposter;

remove the participant from the video conference; and

update the first user contact list based on the indication.
