Abstract

The zoom lens includes, in order from object side to image side, a positive first lens unit, a negative second lens unit, a positive third lens unit, and a rear lens group including at least one lens unit, in which intervals between adjacent lens units are changed during zooming. The third lens unit includes at least two negative lenses and at least three positive lenses. An average value of partial dispersion ratios of two negative lenses having strongest refractive powers of the at least two negative lenses, an average value of partial dispersion ratios of three positive lenses having strongest refractive powers of the at least three positive lenses, an average value of Abbe numbers of the two negative lenses, an average value of Abbe numbers of the three positive lenses, a back focus, and a focal length of zoom lens at wide angle end are appropriately set.

Claims (70)

1. A zoom lens comprising in order from an object side to an image side:

a first lens unit having a positive refractive power;

a second lens unit having a negative refractive power;

a third lens unit having a positive refractive power; and

a rear lens group including at least one lens unit,

wherein an interval between each pair of adjacent lens units changes during zooming,

wherein the first lens unit includes at least three positive lenses and consists of at most five lenses,

wherein the third lens unit includes at least two negative lenses and at least three positive lenses, and

wherein the following conditions are satisfied:

−0.0030≤(θ Ctn ave −θCtp ave )/(ν dn ave −νdp ave )≤0.0040;

30.0≤ν dn ave ≤75.0;

0.3≤ BF/fw≤ 3.0; and

7.7≤ f 1/ fw≤ 20.0,

where θCtn ave represents an average value of partial dispersion ratios of materials of two negative lenses having the strongest refractive powers of the at least two negative lenses, θCtp ave represents an average value of partial dispersion ratios of materials of three positive lenses having the strongest refractive powers of the at least three positive lenses, νdn ave represents an average value of Abbe numbers of the materials of the two negative lenses, νdp ave represents an average value of Abbe numbers of the materials of the three positive lenses, BF represents an air-equivalent length from a last surface of the zoom lens to an image plane, f1 represents a focal length of the first lens unit, and fw represents a focal length of the zoom lens at a wide angle end.

2. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the following condition is satisfied:

1.1≤ f 3/ fw≤ 8.2,

where f3 represents a focal length of the third lens unit.

3. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the following condition is satisfied:

5.0≤ ft/fw≤ 90.0,

where ft represents a focal length of the zoom lens at a telephoto end.

4. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the first lens unit is configured not to move for zooming.

5. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the following condition is satisfied:

−12.0≤ f 1/ f 2≤−2.0,

where f2 represents a focal length of the second lens unit.

6. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the following condition is satisfied:

0.3≤ TD/ft≤ 2.0,

where TD represents a distance on an optical axis from an optical surface closest to the object side to an image plane, and ft represents a focal length of the zoom lens at a telephoto end.

7. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , further comprising an aperture stop arranged on the object side with respect to the third lens unit.

8. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the following condition is satisfied:

−0.0020≤(θ Ctn ave −θCtp ave )/(ν dn ave −νdp ave )≤0.0030.

9. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the following condition is satisfied:

35.0≤ν dn ave ≤65.0.

10. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the zoom lens comprises a plurality of lens units consisting of, in order from the object side to the image side, the first lens unit, the second lens unit, the third lens unit, a fourth lens unit and a fifth lens unit.

11. An image pickup apparatus comprising:

a zoom lens; and

an image pickup element configured to receive light of an image formed by the zoom lens,

wherein the zoom lens comprises in order from an object side to an image side:

a first lens unit having a positive refractive power;

a second lens unit having a negative refractive power;

a third lens unit having a positive refractive power; and

a rear lens group including at least one lens unit,

wherein an interval between each pair of adjacent lens units changes during zooming,

wherein the first lens unit includes at least three positive lenses and consists of at most five lenses,

wherein the third lens unit includes at least two negative lenses and at least three positive lenses, and

wherein the following conditions are satisfied:

−0.0030≤(θ Ctn ave −θCtp ave )/(ν dn ave −νdp ave )≤0.0040;

30.0≤ν dn ave ≤75.0;

0.3≤ BF/fw≤ 3.0; and

7.7≤ f 1/ fw≤ 20.0,

where θCtn ave represents an average value of partial dispersion ratios of materials of two negative lenses having the strongest refractive powers of the at least two negative lenses, θCtpave represents an average value of partial dispersion ratios of materials of three positive lenses having the strongest refractive powers of the at least three positive lenses, νdnave represents an average value of Abbe numbers of the materials of the two negative lenses, νdpave represents an average value of Abbe numbers of the materials of the three positive lenses, BF represents an air-equivalent length from a last surface of the zoom lens to an image plane, f1 represents a focal length of the first lens unit, and fw represents a focal length of the zoom lens at a wide angle end.

12. An image pickup system comprising:

a zoom lens; and

a controller configured to control the zoom lens,

wherein the zoom lens comprises in order from an object side to an image side:

a first lens unit having a positive refractive power;

a second lens unit having a negative refractive power;

a third lens unit having a positive refractive power; and

a rear lens group including at least one lens unit,

wherein an interval between each pair of adjacent lens units changes during zooming,

wherein the first lens unit includes at least three positive lenses and consists of at most five lenses,

wherein the third lens unit includes at least two negative lenses and at least three positive lenses, and

wherein the following conditions are satisfied:

−0.0030≤(θ Ctn ave −θCtp ave )/(ν dn ave −νdp ave )≤0.0040;

30.0≤ν dn ave ≤75.0;

0.3≤ BF/fw≤ 3.0; and

7.7≤ f 1/ fw≤ 20.0,

where θCtnave represents an average value of partial dispersion ratios of materials of two negative lenses having the strongest refractive powers of the at least two negative lenses, θCtpave represents an average value of partial dispersion ratios of materials of three positive lenses having the strongest refractive powers of the at least three positive lenses, νdnave represents an average value of Abbe numbers of the materials of the two negative lenses, νdpave represents an average value of Abbe numbers of the materials of the three positive lenses, BF represents an air-equivalent length from a last surface of the zoom lens to an image plane, f1 represents a focal length of the first lens unit, and fw represents a focal length of the zoom lens at a wide angle end.

13. The image pickup system according to claim 12 , wherein the controller is configured to transmit a control signal for controlling the zoom lens.

14. The image pickup system according to claim 12 , wherein the controller includes an operating device configured to operate the zoom lens.

15. The image pickup system according to claim 12 , further comprising a display configured to display information on zooming of the zoom lens.
