Abstract

A car having: a frame; two rear drive wheels; two rear suspensions, which support the two rear wheels; a drivetrain having two axle shafts, which transmit the motion to the rear drive wheels; a rear subframe, which is fixed to the frame in four fixing points through the interposition of elastic isolating elements, directly supports at least part of the drivetrain, and provides a coupling for the rear suspensions. The four fixing points are substantially arranged at the same vertical height. The frame has two “C”-shaped elements, each having its two ends in the area of two fixing points. Two stiffening beams are provided, each arranged longitudinally and screwed to the frame in the area of the ends of a corresponding “C”-shaped element.

Claims (25)

1. A car ( 1 ) comprising:

a frame ( 7 ) having two “C”-shaped elements ( 16 );

two rear drive wheels ( 2 );

two rear suspensions ( 15 ), which support the two rear wheels ( 2 );

a drivetrain ( 5 ) comprising two axle shafts ( 14 ), which transmit the motion to the rear drive wheels ( 2 );

a rear subframe ( 11 ), which is fixed to the frame ( 7 ) in four fixing points ( 12 ) through the interposition of elastic isolating elements ( 13 ), directly supports at least part of the drivetrain ( 5 ), and provides a coupling for the rear suspensions ( 15 );

wherein the four fixing points ( 12 ) are substantially arranged at the same vertical height;

wherein each “C”-shaped element ( 16 ) of the frame ( 7 ) has its two ends in the area of two fixing points ( 12 ); and

wherein two stiffening beams ( 18 ) are provided, each arranged longitudinally and screwed to the frame ( 7 ) in the area of the ends of a corresponding “C”-shaped element ( 16 ).

2. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein the frame ( 7 ) comprises a rear cross member ( 17 ), which is arranged crosswise and connects two rear ends of the two “C”-shaped elements ( 16 ) to one another.

3. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 2 , wherein each stiffening beam ( 18 ) is screwed to the rear cross member ( 17 ).

4. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 3 , wherein each stiffening beam ( 18 ) is screwed, at the back, to a lower face of the rear cross member ( 17 ).

5. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein each stiffening beam ( 18 ) is screwed, at the front, to a side face of a front end of a corresponding “C”-shaped element ( 16 ).

6. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein the frame ( 7 ) comprises a front cross member, which is arranged crosswise and connects two front ends of the two “C”-shaped elements ( 16 ) to one another.

7. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein the rear subframe ( 11 ) comprises a base with the shape of a quadrilateral, which is obtained by joining four bars ( 19 , 20 ) and at whose vertexes there are the four fixing points ( 12 ).

8. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 7 , wherein each rear suspension ( 15 ) is laterally hinged to the base.

9. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 7 , wherein the rear subframe ( 11 ) comprises, on each side, a “C”-shaped support body ( 21 ), which has two legs originating from the base, builds—together with the base, a triangular shape accommodating, on the inside, a corresponding axle shaft ( 14 ) and has, in the area of its top, a coupling ( 22 ) for a camber control bar ( 23 ) of a corresponding rear suspension ( 15 ).

10. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 9 , wherein the rear subframe ( 11 ) comprises an upper cross member ( 25 ), which connects the two support bodies ( 21 ) to one another and is screwed to the support bodies ( 21 ).

11. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein the rear subframe ( 11 ) can be coupled to and uncoupled from the frame ( 7 ) only in the absence of the two longitudinal stiffening beams ( 18 ).

12. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein the drivetrain ( 5 ) comprises a mechanical transmission, which is housed in the rear subframe ( 11 ), receives the motion from an internal combustion engine and causes the rotation of the two axle shafts ( 14 ).

13. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein the drivetrain ( 5 ) receives the motion from at least one electric machine ( 4 ), which causes the rotation of the two axle shafts ( 14 ) and is housed in the rear subframe ( 11 ).

14. The car ( 1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein the drivetrain ( 5 ) receives the motion from two electric machines ( 4 ) side by side, each causing the rotation of a corresponding axle shaft ( 14 ) and being housed in the rear subframe ( 11 ).

15. A mounting method to mount the car ( 1 ) according to claim 1 and comprising the steps of:

fixing the rear sub-frame ( 11 ) to the frame ( 7 ) in the area of the four fixing points ( 12 ) in the absence of the two longitudinal stiffening beams ( 18 ); and

screwing the two longitudinal stiffening beams ( 18 ) to the frame ( 7 ) after having fixed the rear subframe ( 11 ) to the frame ( 7 ).
