Abstract

Some embodiments provide a map application that identities a transit mute that includes one or more transit legs between a starting location and a destination location. In response to a request to shirt navigating the identified transit route, the map application of some embodiments provides a first display area for displaying a set of navigation instructions, each of which describes a transit maneuver that is associated with a transit leg of the transit route. The map application also provides a second display area for displaying a map region presentation associated with the navigation instruction that is displayed in the first display area.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the wearable device, a first selection of the second navigation instruction presented on the display of the wearable device; and

in response to receiving the first selection, replacing, by the wearable device, the second navigation instruction presented on the display of the wearable device with a map view having a graphical representation of the second navigation instruction, the map view including a map of a geographic area surrounding the second navigation maneuver described by the second navigation instruction, the map including a portion of the transit route corresponding to the second navigation maneuver.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising:

while presenting the map view, receiving, by the wearable device, a second user input for exiting the map view; and

in response to receiving the second user input, replacing, by the wearable device, the map view presented on the display of the wearable device with the second navigation instruction.

6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the second navigation instruction and the map view are not presented concurrently.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

presenting, by the wearable device, a non-textual progress indicator that represents a total number of maneuvers in the plurality of maneuvers and a level of progress along the transit route corresponding to a particular navigation maneuver for which a corresponding navigation instruction is concurrently presented on the display of the wearable device.

8. The method of claim 2 , wherein detecting the manipulation of the input device includes detecting that the crown of the watch has been rotated, and further comprising:

stepping forward in the transit route to a next navigation maneuver when the crown is rotated in a first direction; and

stepping backward in the transit route to a previous navigation maneuver when the crown is rotated in a second direction.

9. A non-transitory computer readable medium including one or more sequences of instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the processors to perform operations comprising:

obtaining, by a wearable device, a transit route from a starting location to a destination location, the transit route utilizing at least one public transit vehicle and comprising a plurality of transit navigation maneuvers;

presenting, by the wearable device, a first navigation instruction describing a first navigation maneuver of the plurality of transit navigation maneuvers on a display of the wearable device;

detecting, by the wearable device, manipulation of a physical input physically integrated into the wearable device, the input device being distinct from the display;

in response to detecting the manipulation, presenting, by the wearable device, a second navigation instruction describing a second navigation maneuver of the plurality transit navigation maneuvers on the display of the wearable device.

10. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the wearable device is a watch and the physical input is a crown of the watch.

11. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions cause the processors to perform operations comprising:

in response to detecting the manipulation, removing the first navigation instruction frond the display and presenting the second navigation instruction.

12. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions cause the processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving, by the wearable device, a first selection of the second navigation instruction presented on the display of the wearable device; and

in response to receiving the first selection, replacing, by the wearable device, the second navigation instruction presented on the display of the wearable device with a map view having a graphical representation of the second navigation instruction, the map view including a map of a geographic area surrounding the second navigation maneuver described by the second navigation instruction, the map including a portion of the transit route corresponding to the second navigation maneuver.

13. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the instructions cause the processors to perform operations comprising:

while presenting the map view, receiving, by flee wearable device, a second user input for exiting the map view; and

in response to receiving the second user input, replacing, by the wearable device, the map view presented on the display of the wearable device with the second navigation instruction.

14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the second navigation instruction and the map view are not presented concurrently.

15. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions cause the processors to perform operations comprising:

presenting, by the wearable device, a non-textual progress indicator that represents a total number of maneuvers in the plurality of maneuvers and a level of progress along the transit route corresponding to a particular navigation maneuver for which a corresponding navigation instruction is concurrently presented on the display of the wearable device.
