Abstract

Sequences to synchronize devices and related methods are disclosed herein including an access address generator to cryptographically generate a first bit sequence, an access address selector to read a first portion of the first bit sequence and read a second portion of the first bit sequence, the second portion different than the first portion, an access address analyzer to identify a first access address from a first section of the first portion based on a first criteria, the first criteria a function of a first autocorrelation function and identify a second access address from a second section of the second portion based on a second criteria, the second criteria a function of a second autocorrelation function.

Claims (21)

1. An apparatus comprising: access address generator circuitry configured to cryptographically generate a bit sequence; access address selector circuitry configured to: read a first portion of the bit sequence, the first portion to include a first candidate address and a second candidate address; and read a second portion of the bit sequence, the second portion including a third candidate address and a fourth candidate address, the second portion different than the first portion; access address analyzer circuitry configured to: select a first access address from one of the first candidate address or the second candidate address based on a first criteria, wherein the first criteria is a function of a first autocorrelation function wherein selecting the first access address includes calculating energy scores of the first and second candidate addresses and selecting a lower of the two energy scores;

select a second access address from one of the third candidate address or the fourth candidate address based on a second criteria, wherein the second criteria is a function of a second autocorrelation function; and Bluetooth circuitry configured to: use the first access address to determine a round trip time (RTT) for Bluetooth communication with a first device separate from the apparatus; and use the second access address to determine a RTT for Bluetooth communication with a second device separate from the apparatus.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein bit sequence is generated based on a first quantity of iterations.

3. The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the first quantity of iterations is based on a number of access addresses and a number of bit blocks used to generate the bit sequence.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the bit sequence is 128 bits in length.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein cryptographically generating the bit sequence includes a block cipher.

6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the block cipher is based on a key, an initialization vector, and a counter variable.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first and second criteria are a first and second energy score value.

8. An apparatus comprising: a memory including instructions; and processor circuitry configured to execute the instructions to: cryptographically generate a bit sequence; read a first portion of the bit sequence, the first portion including a first candidate address and a second candidate address; read a second portion of the bit sequence, the second portion including a third candidate address and a fourth candidate address, the second portion different than the first portion; select a first access address from one of the first candidate address or the second candidate address based on a first criteria, wherein the first criteria is a function of a first autocorrelation function wherein selecting the first access address includes calculating energy scores of the first and second candidate addresses and selecting a lower of the two energy scores; select a second access address one of the third candidate address or the fourth candidate address based on a second criteria, wherein the second criteria is a function of a second autocorrelation function; use the first access address to determine a round trip time (RTT) for Bluetooth communication with a first device separate from the processor circuitry; and use the second access address to determine a RTT for Bluetooth communication with a second device separate from the processor circuitry.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the bit sequence is generated based on a first quantity of iterations.

10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the first quantity of iterations is based on a number of access addresses and a number of bit blocks used to generate the bit sequence.

11. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the bit sequence is 128 bits in length.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein cryptographically generating the bit sequence includes a block cipher.

13. The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the block cipher is based on a key, an initialization vector, and a counter variable.

14. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the first and second criteria are a first and second energy score value.

15. A method comprising: cryptographically generating, with a first device, a bit sequence; reading, with the first device, a first portion of the bit sequence, the first portion to include a first candidate address and a second candidate address; reading, with the first device, a second portion of the bit sequence, the second portion including a third candidate address and a fourth candidate address, the second portion different than the first portion; selecting, with the first device, a first access address from one of the first candidate address or the second candidate address based on a first criteria, wherein the first criteria is a function of a first autocorrelation function wherein selecting the first access address includes calculating energy scores of the first and second candidate addresses and selecting a lower of the two energy scores; selecting, with the first device, a second access address one of the third candidate address or the fourth candidate address based on a second criteria, wherein the second criteria is a function of a second autocorrelation function; using, with the first device, the first access address to determine a round trip time (RTT) for Bluetooth communication with a second device separate from the first device; and using, with the first device, the second access address to determine a RTT for Bluetooth communication with a third device separate from the first device.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the bit sequence is generated based on a first quantity of iterations.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the first quantity of iterations is based on a number of access addresses and a number of bit blocks used to generate the bit sequence.

18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the bit sequence is 128 bits in length.

19. The method of claim 15 , wherein cryptographically generating the bit sequence includes a block cipher.

20. The method of claim 19 , wherein the block cipher is based on a key, an initialization vector, and a counter variable.
