Abstract

An organic light-emitting device includes: a first electrode; a second electrode facing the first electrode; an organic layer between the first electrode and the second electrode, the organic layer including an emission layer; and at least one condensed cyclic compound represented by Formula 1: wherein, in Formula 1, at least one selected from R 1 to R 15 is a group represented by Formula 2:

Claims (117)

1. An organic light-emitting device comprising:

a first electrode;

a second electrode facing the first electrode;

an organic layer between the first electrode and the second electrode, the organic layer comprising an emission layer; and

at least one condensed cyclic compound represented by Formula 1:

wherein, in Formula 1,

Y 1 is N or C(R 1 ), Y 2 is N or C(R 2 ), Y 3 is N or C(R 3 ), Y 4 is N or C(R 4 ), Y 5 is N or C(R 5 ), Y 6 is N or C(R 6 ), Y 7 is N or C(R 7 ), Y 8 is N or C(R 8 ), Y 9 is N or C(R 9 ), Y 10 is N or C(R 10 ), Y 11 is N or C(R 11 ), Y 12 is N or C(R 12 ), Y 13 is N or C(R 13 ), Y 14 is N or C(R 14 ), and Y 15 is N or C(R 15 ), wherein at least one selected from Y 1 to Y 15 is not N,

X 1 is selected from O, S, N(R 16 ), C(R 16 )(R 17 ), and Si(R 16 )(R 17 ),

X 2 is selected from O, S, N(R 18 ), C(R 18 )(R 19 ), and Si(R 18 )(R 19 ), and

at least one selected from R 1 to R 15 is a group represented by Formula 2:

wherein, in Formulae 1 and 2,

L 1 to L 3 are each independently selected from a single bond, a substituted or unsubstituted C 5 -C 60 carbocyclic group, and a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heterocyclic group,

a1 to a3 are each independently an integer from 1 to 3,

X 3 is selected from O, S, N(R 22 ), C(R 22 )(R 23 ), and Si(R 22 )(R 23 ),

A 1 is selected from a C 5 -C 30 carbocyclic group and a C 2 -C 30 heterocyclic group,

Ar 1 to Ar 3 are each independently selected from a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group,

R 1 to R 23 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —N(Q 1 )(Q 2 ), —B(Q 1 )(Q 2 ), —C(═O)(Q 1 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 1 ), and —P(═O)(Q 1 )(Q 2 ),

R 16 and R 17 , R 18 and R 19 , and/or R 22 and R 23 are optionally linked to form a saturated ring or an unsaturated ring, and R 9 and R 10 are not linked to each other,

b20 is an integer from 1 to 3,

b21 is an integer from 1 to 6,

at least one substituent of the substituted C 5 -C 60 carbocyclic group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 heterocyclic group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group is selected from:

deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, and a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group;

a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, and a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —N(Q 11 )(Q 12 ), —B(Q 11 )(Q 12 ), —C(═O)(Q 11 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 11 ), and —P(═O)(Q 11 )(Q 12 );

a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group;

a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —N(Q 21 )(Q 22 ), —B(Q 21 )(Q 22 ), —C(═O)(Q 21 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 21 ), and —P(═O)(Q 21 )(Q 22 ); and

—N(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —B(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —C(═O)(Q 31 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 31 ), and —P(═O)(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), and

Q 1 to Q 3 , Q 11 to Q 13 , Q 21 to Q 23 , and Q 31 to Q 33 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, a biphenyl group, and a terphenyl group.

2. The organic light-emitting device of claim 1 , wherein

the first electrode is an anode,

the second electrode is a cathode

the organic layer comprises the condensed cyclic compound,

the organic layer further comprises a hole transport region between the first electrode and the emission layer, and an electron transport region between the emission layer and the second electrode,

the hole transport region comprises a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, an emission auxiliary layer, an electron blocking layer, or any combination thereof, and

the electron transport region comprises a hole blocking layer, an electron transport layer, an electron injection layer, or any combination thereof.

3. The organic light-emitting device of claim 1 , wherein

the emission layer comprises the condensed cyclic compound.

4. The organic light-emitting device of claim 3 , wherein

the condensed cyclic compound is a thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter satisfying Equation 1:

Δ E st =S 1− T 1≤0.4 eV.  Equation 1

wherein in Equation 1,

S1 is a singlet energy level of the condensed cyclic compound, and

T1 is a triplet energy level of the condensed cyclic compound.

5. The organic light-emitting device of claim 3 , wherein

the emission layer further comprises a host, and the host comprises at least one selected from an anthracene-based compound, a pyrene-based compound, a spiro-bifluorene-based compound, a carbazole-based compound, a benzimidazole-based compound, and a phosphine oxide-based compound.

6. The organic light-emitting device of claim 3 , wherein

the emission layer is to emit blue light having a wavelength of maximum emission of 420 nm or more and 480 nm or less.

7. The organic light-emitting device of claim 2 , wherein

the hole transport region comprises a hole transport layer, and

the hole transport layer comprises a first hole transport layer and a second hole transport layer.

8. A condensed cyclic compound represented by Formula 1:

wherein, in Formula 1,

Y 1 is N or C(R 1 ), Y 2 is N or C(R 2 ), Y 3 is N or C(R 3 ), Y 4 is N or C(R 4 ), Y 5 is N or C(R 5 ), Y 6 is N or C(R 6 ), Y 7 is N or C(R 7 ), Y 8 is N or C(R 8 ), Y 9 is N or C(R 9 ), Y 10 is N or C(R 10 ), Y 11 is N or C(R 11 ), Y 12 is N or C(R 12 ), Y 13 is N or C(R 13 ), Y 14 is N or C(R 14 ), and Y 15 is N or C(R 15 ), wherein at least one selected from Y 1 to Y 15 is not N,

X 1 is selected from O, S, N(R 16 ), C(R 16 )(R 17 ), and Si(R 16 )(R 17 ),

X 2 is selected from O, S, N(R 18 ), C(R 18 )(R 19 ), and Si(R 18 )(R 19 ), and

at least one selected from R 1 to R 15 is a group represented by Formula 2:

wherein, in Formulae 1 and 2,

L 1 to L 3 are each independently selected from a single bond, a substituted or unsubstituted C 5 -C 60 carbocyclic group, and a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heterocyclic group,

a1 to a3 are each independently an integer from 1 to 3,

X 3 is selected from O, S, N(R 22 ), C(R 22 )(R 23 ), and Si(R 22 )(R 23 ),

a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —N(Q 21 )(Q 22 ), —B(Q 21 )(Q 22 ), —C(═O)(Q 21 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 21 ), and —P(═O)(Q 21 )(Q 22 ); and

—N(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —B(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —C(═O)(Q 31 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 31 ), and —P(═O)(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), and

Q 1 to Q 3 , Q 11 to Q 13 , Q 21 to Q 23 , and Q 31 to Q 33 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, a biphenyl group, and a terphenyl group.

9. The condensed cyclic compound of claim 8 , wherein

Y 1 is C(R 1 ), Y 2 is C(R 2 ), Y 3 is C(R 3 ), Y 4 is C(R 4 ), Y 5 is C(R 5 ), Y 6 is C(R 6 ), Y 7 is C(R 7 ), Y 8 is C(R 8 ), Y 9 is C(R 9 ), Y 10 is C(R 10 ), Y 11 is C(R 11 ), Y 12 is C(R 12 ), Y 13 is C(R 13 ), Y 14 is C(R 14 ), and Y 15 is C(R 15 ).

10. The condensed cyclic compound of claim 8 , wherein

Y 1 is C(R 1 ), Y 2 is C(R 2 ), Y 3 is C(R 3 ), Y 4 is C(R 4 ), Y 5 is C(R 5 ), Y 6 is C(R 6 ), Y 7 is C(R 7 ), Y 8 is C(R 8 ), Y 9 is C(R 9 ), Y 10 is C(R 10 ), Y 11 is C(R 11 ), Y 12 is C(R 12 ), Y 13 is C(R 13 ), Y 14 is C(R 14 ), and Y 15 is C(R 15 ),

R 1 and R 3 to R 15 are each independently hydrogen, and

R 2 is a group represented by Formula 2.

11. The condensed cyclic compound of claim 8 , wherein

the condensed cyclic compound is represented by one selected from Formulae 1-1 to 1-21:

wherein, in Formulae 1-1 to 1-21,

at least one selected from R 1 to R 15 is a group represented by Formula 2, and

R 1 to R 19 are each independently the same as defined in connection with Formula 1.

12. The condensed cyclic compound of claim 8 , wherein

Ar 1 to Ar 3 are each independently selected from:

a C 1 -C 20 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 20 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 20 alkynyl group, and a C 1 -C 20 alkoxy group,

13. The condensed cyclic compound of claim 8 , wherein

Ar 1 to Ar 3 are each independently selected from:

a methyl group, —CD 3 , an ethyl group, an n-propyl group, an isopropyl group, an n-butyl group, an isobutyl group, a sec-butyl group, a tert-butyl group, an n-pentyl group, an isopentyl group, a sec-pentyl group, a tert-pentyl group, a neopentyl group, an n-hexyl group, an isohexyl group, and a phenyl group; and

a phenyl group substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a methyl group, —CD 3 , an ethyl group, an n-propyl group, an isopropyl group, an n-butyl group, an isobutyl group, a sec-butyl group, a tert-butyl group, an n-pentyl group, an isopentyl group, a sec-pentyl group, a tert-pentyl group, a neopentyl group, an n-hexyl group, an isohexyl group, and a phenyl group.

14. The condensed cyclic compound of claim 8 , wherein

Ar 1 to Ar 3 are identical to each other.

15. The condensed cyclic compound of claim 8 , wherein

L 1 to L 3 are each independently a single bond, and a1 to a3 are each independently 1.

16. The condensed cyclic compound of claim 8 , wherein
