Abstract

An image encoding/decoding method and apparatus are provided. An image decoding method includes obtaining inter prediction information of a current block and wraparound information from a bitstream, and generating a prediction block of the current block based on the inter prediction information and the wraparound information. The wraparound information may include a first flag specifying whether wraparound motion compensation is enabled for a current video sequence including the current block. The first flag may have a first value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is disabled, based on that one or more subpicture, which is coded independently and has a width different from a width of a current picture, is present in the current video sequence.

Claims (26)

1. An image decoding method performed by an image decoding apparatus, the image decoding method comprising:

obtaining inter prediction information of a current block within a current picture and wraparound information from a bitstream; and

generating a prediction block of the current block based on the inter prediction information and the wraparound information,

wherein the wraparound information comprises a first flag and a second flag, the first flag specifying whether wraparound motion compensation is enabled for a current video sequence including the current picture, and the second flag specifying whether the wraparound motion compensation is enabled for the current picture,

wherein, when the current video sequence includes at least one subpicture being treated as a picture and having a width different from a value being derived based on information on a maximum width of a picture in the current video sequence, the first flag obtained from the bitstream is constrained to have a first value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is disabled for the current video sequence, and

wherein the second flag has a first value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is disabled for the current picture when the first flag has the first value.

2. The image decoding method of claim 1 , wherein the second flag has a first value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is disabled for the current picture, based on a predetermined condition regarding a width of a coding tree block (CTB) in the current picture and a width of the current picture.

3. The image decoding method of claim 1 , wherein the prediction block of the current block is generated by the wraparound motion compensation when the second flag has a second value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is enabled for the current picture.

4. The image decoding method of claim 1 , wherein whether each subpicture in the current video sequence is treated as a picture is determined based on a third flag obtained from the bitstream.

5. An image encoding method performed by an image encoding apparatus, the image encoding method comprising:

determining whether wraparound motion compensation is applied for a current block within a current picture;

generating a prediction block of the current block by performing inter prediction based on the determination; and

encoding inter prediction information of the current block and wraparound information of the wraparound motion compensation,

wherein the wraparound information comprises a first flag and a second flag, the first flag specifying whether wraparound motion compensation is enabled for a current video sequence including the current picture, and the second flag specifying whether the wraparound motion compensation is enabled for the current picture,

wherein, when the current video sequence includes at least one subpicture being treated as a picture and having a width different from a value being derived based on information on a maximum width of a picture in the current video sequence, the encoded first flag is constrained to have a first value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is disabled for the current video sequence, and

wherein the second flag has a first value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is disabled for the current picture when the first flag has the first value.

6. The image encoding method of claim 5 , wherein the second flag has a first value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is disabled for the current picture, based on a predetermined condition regarding a width of a coding tree block (CTB) in the current picture and a width of the current picture.

7. The image encoding method of claim 5 , wherein the prediction block of the current block is generated by the wraparound motion compensation when the wraparound motion compensation is enabled for the current picture.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing a bitstream generated by the image encoding method of claim 5 .

9. A method of transmitting a bitstream generated by an image encoding method, the image encoding method comprising:

determining whether wraparound motion compensation is applied for a current block within a current picture;

generating a prediction block of the current block by performing inter prediction based on the determination; and

encoding inter prediction information of the current block and wraparound information of the wraparound motion compensation,

wherein the wraparound information comprises a first flag and a second flag, the first flag specifying whether wraparound motion compensation is enabled for a current video sequence including the current picture, and the second flag specifying whether the wraparound motion compensation is enabled for the current picture,

wherein, when the current video sequence includes at least one subpicture being treated as a picture and having a width different from a value being derived based on information on a maximum width of a picture in the current video sequence, the encoded first flag is constrained to have a first value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is disabled for the current video sequence, and

wherein the second flag has a first value specifying that the wraparound motion compensation is disabled for the current picture when the first flag has the first value.
