Antimicrobial mixture

1. An antimicrobial mixture consisting of

(a) about 0.1 wt.-% of at least one α-bisabolol isomer,

(b) about 0.25 wt.-% to about 0.35 wt.-% of 4-hydroxyacetophenone, and

(c) the balance of at least one additional antimicrobial agent different from components (a) and (b),

on condition the amounts add to 100 wt.-%,

and present in an anti-microbially effective amount against mold species of the genus E. coli after 14 days at a minimum.

2. The mixture of claim 1 , comprising an α-bisabolol isomer mixture.

3. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein said α-bisabolol is of natural or synthetic origin.

4. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein components (a) and (b) are present in a ratio by weight of from about 10: 90 to about 90:10.

5. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the at least one additional antimicrobial agent is a 1,2-alkanediol having 5 to 12 carbon atoms and/or phenoxyethanol.

6. The mixture of claim 5 , wherein said 1,2-alkanediol is selected from the group consisting of 1,2-pentanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, 1,2-octanediol, 1,2-decandiol, 1,2-dodecandiol, and mixtures thereof.

7. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein the at least one additional antimicrobial agent is selected from the group consisting of:

1-hydroxy-4-methyl-6-(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)-2(1H)-pyridone, 2-

aminoethanol (Octopirox)

1,2-decanediol (SymClariol)

10-undecylenic acid and its salts,

2,4-hexadienoic acid (sorbic acid) and its salts (e.g. potassium salt),

2-phenoxyethanol,

3-Acetyl-2-hydroxy-6-methyl-4H-pyran-4-one (Dehydroacetic acid),

4-hydroxy acetophenone

4-hydroxy benzaldehyde,

alkyl-(C8-C18)-dimethyl-benzyl-ammonium chloride (Benzalkonium

chloride),

anisic acid and its salts,

benzoic acid and para-hydroxybenzoic acid, their esters and salts,

8. The mixture of claim 6 , wherein said 1,2-alkanediol is a mixture of 1,2-hexanediol and 1,2-octanediol.
