Abstract

A method of resource selection by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method includes detecting a need of an uplink transmission having a plurality of transmission parameters for at least one application from a plurality of applications having an associated transmission requirement. The method includes determining a set of configured grant resources available to the UE along with the associated plurality of grant resource parameters. The method includes determining transmission capability for the set of configured grant resources by analyzing the grant resource parameters. The method includes selecting at least one configured grant resource from the set of configured grant resources satisfying at least one transmission requirement of the at least one application.

Claims (52)

1. A method for communication by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) including downlink control information (DCI), wherein the DCI includes a bitmap indicating activation status of resources for each of a plurality of configured grants (CGs) for an uplink transmission of the UE, wherein the activation status of the resources for each of the plurality of CGs which is indicated by the bitmap in the DCI included in the PDCCH received by the UE is set based on a channel quality of a corresponding configured grant and a threshold value; and

transmitting uplink data based on the bitmap indicating the activation status of resources for each of the plurality of CGs.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein each bit of the bitmap indicates activation status of resources for a corresponding CG of the plurality of CGs.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the bitmap indicates activation of at least one CG.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the bitmap indicates deactivation of at least one CG.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

detecting a need of an uplink transmission for at least one application from a plurality of applications;

determining a set of CG resources from a plurality of CG resources available to the UE based on a plurality of grant resource parameters related to each of the plurality of CG resources and a plurality of transmission parameters for the uplink transmission, wherein the plurality of CG resources available to the UE is determined based on the bitmap; and

selecting at least one CG resource for the uplink transmission from the determined set of CG resources satisfying at least one transmission requirement of the at least one application,

wherein selecting the at least one CG resource from the set of CG resources comprises:

identifying a first CG resource satisfying the at least one transmission requirement, and

if an error is detected in selecting the first CG resource for sending the uplink transmission:

identifying a second CG resource satisfying transmission requirement less than the transmission requirement satisfied by the first CG resource, and

selecting the second CG resource for sending the uplink transmission.

6. A method for communication with a user equipment (UE) by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

identifying downlink control information (DCI) including a bitmap indicating activation status of resources for each of a plurality of configured grants (CGs) for an uplink transmission of the UE, wherein the activation status of the resources for each of the plurality of CGs is set based on a channel quality of a corresponding configured grant and a threshold value; and

transmitting, to the UE, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) including the DCI.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein each bit of the bitmap indicates activation status of resources for a corresponding CG of the plurality of CGs.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the bitmap indicates activation of at least one CG.

9. The method of claim 6 , wherein the bitmap indicates deactivation of at least one CG.

10. The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

receiving, from the UE, uplink data which is transmitted based on the bitmap indicating the activation status of resources for each of the plurality of CGs.

11. A user equipment (UE) for communication in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

a transceiver;

one or more processors communicatively coupled to the transceiver; and

memory storing one or more computer programs including computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the UE to:

receive a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) including downlink control information (DCI), wherein the DCI includes a bitmap indicating activation status of resources for each of a plurality of configured grants (CGs) for an uplink transmission of the UE, wherein the activation status of the resources for each of the plurality of CGs which is indicated by the bitmap in the DCI included in the PDCCH received by the UE is set based on a channel quality of a corresponding configured grant and a threshold value, and

transmit uplink data based on the bitmap indicating the activation status of resources for each of the plurality of CGs.

12. The UE of claim 11 , wherein each bit of the bitmap indicates activation status of resources for a corresponding CG of the plurality of CGs.

13. The UE of claim 11 , wherein the bitmap indicates activation of at least one CG.

14. The UE of claim 11 , wherein the bitmap indicates deactivation of at least one CG.

15. The UE of claim 11 , wherein the one or more computer programs further comprise computer-executable instructions to:

detect a need of an uplink transmission for at least one application from a plurality of applications;

determine a set of CG resources from a plurality of CG resources available to the UE based on a plurality of grant resource parameters related to each of the plurality of CG resources and a plurality of transmission parameters for the uplink transmission, wherein the plurality of CG resources available to the UE is determined based on the bitmap; and

select at least one CG resource for the uplink transmission from the determined set of CG resources satisfying at least one transmission requirement of the at least one application, and

wherein for selecting the at least one CG resource from the set of CG resources, the one or more computer programs further comprise computer-executable instructions to:

identify a first CG resource satisfying the at least one transmission requirement, and

if an error is detected in selecting the first CG resource for sending the uplink transmission:

identify a second CG resource satisfying transmission requirement less than the transmission requirement satisfied by the first CG resource, and

select the second CG resource for sending the uplink transmission.

16. A base station for communication with a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:

a transceiver;

one or more processors communicatively coupled to the transceiver; and

memory storing one or more computer programs including computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:

identify downlink control information (DCI) including a bitmap indicating activation status of resources for each of a plurality of configured grants (CGs) for an uplink transmission of the UE, wherein the activation status of the resources for each of the plurality of CGs is set based on a channel quality of a corresponding configured grant and a threshold value, and
