Abstract

A display device including: a plurality of sub-pixels arranged in a matrix, each including an electro-optical element having a structure in which a display functional layer is sandwiched between an upper electrode and a lower electrode; and an auxiliary interconnect contact in a pixel area in which the plurality of sub-pixels are arranged in a matrix and electrically connecting the upper electrode to an auxiliary interconnect, wherein m (m is an integer equal to or larger than two) sub-pixels adjacent to each other along an arrangement direction of the sub-pixels are regarded as one group, and n (n is a natural number smaller than m) auxiliary interconnect contacts are formed for each group.

Claims (11)

1. A display device, comprising:

a plurality of sub-pixels in a pixel region, the plurality of sub-pixels divided into a plurality of groups arrayed, in a plan view, along at least a first direction, each group including at least a first sub-pixel and a second sub-pixel, the first sub-pixel including a first light emitting element and the second sub-pixel including a second light emitting element, the first light emitting element having a first lower electrode, the second light emitting element having a second lower electrode, the first light emitting element and the second light emitting element having an upper electrode in common, the first light emitting element and the second light emitting element having light emitting layer in common;

in the plan view, an auxiliary electrode surrounding the pixel region; and

in the plan view, one or more auxiliary interconnects, the first lower electrode of the first light emitting element and second lower electrode of the second light emitting element being surrounded by portions of the auxiliary electrode and the one or more auxiliary interconnects, the auxiliary electrode and the one or more auxiliary interconnects being in a same layer in a cross section view orthogonal to the plan view, the auxiliary electrode and the one or more auxiliary electrodes being spaced from the upper electrode in the cross section view by the light emitting layer or a portion of the light emitting layer, the one or more auxiliary interconnects being directly electrically connected to the auxiliary electrode, the auxiliary electrode being connected to the upper electrode in a peripheral region outside of the pixel region by means of first contacts extending along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction and directly between the auxiliary electrode and the upper electrode, and the one or more auxiliary interconnects being connected to the upper electrode within the pixel region by means of second contacts extending along the second direction and directly between the auxiliary interconnects and the upper electrode.

2. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the upper electrode is a cathode electrode.

3. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more auxiliary interconnects, the first lower electrode, and the second lower electrode are disposed in a same layer.

4. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the auxiliary electrode and the one or more auxiliary interconnects are a unitary structure.

5. The display device of claim 1 , wherein each of the first lower electrode and the second lower electrode are rectangular in shape.

6. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first light emitting element and second light emitting element are electrically connected to the upper electrode in common, and the upper electrode is has an opposite planar surface disposed parallel to the first lower electrode and the second lower electrode.

7. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first light emitting element and second light emitting element are electrically connected in common to the upper electrode, the upper electrode has oppositely-facing planar surfaces each of which is disposed parallel to the first lower electrode and the second lower electrode, and the one or more auxiliary interconnects together with the auxiliary electrode surround the first lower electrode and the second lower electrode in cross section.

8. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first light emitting element and second light emitting element are electrically connected in common to the upper electrode, the auxiliary electrode, the first lower electrode, and the second lower electrode are in a same layer, and the one or more auxiliary interconnects together with the auxiliary electrode surround the first lower electrode and the second lower electrode in cross section.
