Abstract

A method for operating a vehicle that includes a passenger is described. In one example, the method adjusts vehicle suspension and exhaust system sound in response to characteristics of the passenger that are monitored via a camera and a microphone. The method may operate the vehicle suspension and exhaust system in a way that soothes the passenger.

Claims (21)

1. A vehicle system, comprising:

a camera;

a microphone;

a suspension having an adjustable damping rate;

an engine including an exhaust system with an adjustable exhaust valve; and

a controller including executable instructions stored in non-transitory memory that cause the controller to adjust the adjustable exhaust valve to decrease noise produced via the engine in response to output of the camera, and additional executable instructions stored in non-transitory memory that cause the controller to notify vehicle occupants via a human/machine interface in response to output of the camera.

2. The vehicle system of claim 1 , further comprising additional executable instructions to adjust the exhaust valve in response to output from the microphone.

3. The vehicle system of claim 1 , further comprising additional executable instructions to adjust vehicle lighting in response to output of the camera.

4. The vehicle system of claim 1 , further comprising additional executable instructions to adjust output of an infotainment system in response to output of the microphone.

5. The vehicle system of claim 1 , further comprising additional instructions to predict an emotional state of a vehicle passenger in response to output of the camera.

6. A vehicle system, comprising:

a camera;

a microphone;

a suspension having an adjustable damping rate;

an engine including an exhaust system with an adjustable exhaust valve; and

a controller including executable instructions stored in non-transitory memory that cause the controller to adjust the adjustable exhaust valve to decrease noise produced via the engine in response to output of the camera, and additional executable instructions to adjust vehicle lighting in response to output of the camera.

7. The vehicle system of claim 6 , further comprising additional executable instructions to adjust the exhaust valve in response to output from the microphone.

8. The vehicle system of claim 6 , further comprising additional executable instructions to adjust vehicle lighting in response to output of the camera.

9. The vehicle system of claim 6 , further comprising additional executable instructions to adjust output of an infotainment system in response to output of the microphone.

10. The vehicle system of claim 6 , further comprising additional instructions to notify vehicle occupants via a human/machine interface in response to output of the camera.

11. The vehicle system of claim 6 , further comprising additional instructions to predict an emotional state of a vehicle passenger in response to output of the camera.
