Abstract

Intelligent hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback can better support link adaption. Thus, in addition to the traditional HARQ feedback, which is to relay acknowledgement (ACK) and negative acknowledgement (NAK) data based on a decoding result, a new state for the HARQ feedback can be represented as “ACK+”. Consequently, ACK+ can be used to indicate to the network that a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of a current data packet is too conservative, and the user equipment (UE) is capable of supporting a more aggressive MCS.

Claims (36)

1. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:

decoding a data packet received from a network node device of a network;

in response to the decoding of the data packet, estimating a decoding quality associated with a potential modulation and coding scheme value that is greater than a current data packet value; and

in response to a value representative of the decoding quality being determined to be less than a threshold value, transmitting acknowledgement plus data indicative of a quality lapse between the decoding quality and a channel quality of the network.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

in response to the transmitting of the acknowledgement plus data, receiving modulation and coding scheme data, representative of a modulation and coding scheme, from the network node device.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the modulation and coding scheme is a first modulation and coding scheme, and wherein the first modulation and coding scheme is different than a second modulation and coding scheme of a mobile device.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the acknowledgement plus data comprises an additional plus to indicate an additional modulation and coding scheme to be sent to a mobile device.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the additional modulation and coding scheme is different than a current modulation and coding scheme being utilized by the mobile device.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the acknowledgement plus data is encoded with different data than an acknowledgement data.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein a plus in the acknowledgement plus data represents a level of a modulation and coding scheme to be used by a mobile device.

8. A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:

decoding a data packet received from a network node device of a network;

in response to the decoding of the data packet, estimating a first value associated with a decoding quality of the decoding of the data packet; and

in response to the first value being determined to be less than a second value associated with a channel quality of the network, transmitting acknowledgement plus data indicative of a lapse in quality between the decoding quality and the channel quality.

9. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the estimating of the first value is based on a demodulation reference signal interference to noise ratio associated with the channel quality.

10. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the estimating of the first value is based on a data soft symbol signal interference to noise ratio associated with the channel quality.

11. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the estimating of the first value is based on a channel soft symbol associated with the channel quality.

12. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise:

in response to the estimating, associating a sequence order with the acknowledgement plus data and acknowledgement data.

13. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise:

in response to the estimating, associating a sequence order with the acknowledgement plus data and negative acknowledgement data.

14. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein a plus in the acknowledgement plus data represents a level of a modulation and coding scheme to be used by a mobile device.

15. A method, comprising:

decoding, by a user equipment comprising a processor, a data packet received from network equipment via a network;

estimating, by the user equipment, a first value associated with a decoding quality of the decoding of the data packet; and

in response to the first value being determined to be less than a second value associated with a channel quality of the network, transmitting, by the user equipment, acknowledgement plus data indicative of a deviation in quality between the decoding quality and the channel quality.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the estimating of the first value is based on a demodulation reference signal interference to noise ratio associated with the channel quality.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the estimating of the first value is based on a data soft symbol signal interference to noise ratio associated with the channel quality.

18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the estimating of the first value is based on a channel soft symbol associated with the channel quality.

19. The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

associating, by the user equipment, a sequence order with the acknowledgement plus data and acknowledgement data.

20. The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

associating, by the user equipment, a sequence order with the acknowledgement plus data and negative acknowledgement data.
