Abstract

A system for sensing and responding to detected activity or an event in a region is provided. The system may comprise: a modular edge computing platform configured to provide a predetermined functionality for a particular application, the modular edge computing platform is configured to process sensor data to generate processed data, and transmit the processed data; and a remote entity that comprises (i) a cloud analytic configured to receive the processed data from the modular edge computing platform and analyze the processed data, and (ii) a cloud user interface module configured to provide a graphical user interface on a user device, the graphical user interface displays one or more results generated by the cloud analytic upon analyzing the processed data.

Claims (31)

1. A modular system for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) management, the modular system comprising:

a stackable application module comprising a processor to process data received from a UAV and sensor data from at least one or more vision sensors located at the modular system to determine an activity event associated with the UAV, wherein the data received from the UAV comprises at least an identifier of the UAV; and

a base station releasably assembled to the stackable application module via a first interface, wherein the stackable application module is mounted to the base station via the first interface and wherein the base station comprises:

(i) a communication module to provide communication functionality over a network,

(ii) a second interface providing electrical and mechanical coupling of the base station with a support member, wherein the second interface allows the base station to be releasably coupled to the support member.

2. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the identifier of the UAV is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) registration number.

3. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the activity event associated with the UAV comprises a deviation of the UAV from a designated flight path, operating within a legal space, or operating outside of legal space.

4. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the activity event is determined utilizing a machine learning algorithm trained model.

5. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the activity event is transmitted to a remote entity over the network.

6. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the activity event is broadcasted at periodic intervals.

7. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more vision sensors provide a 360-degree coverage.

8. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more vision sensors comprise an infrared detector.

9. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more vision sensors comprise an infrared detector and a visual spectrum camera.

10. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the support member is selected from a group consisting of streetlight, a utility pole, a vehicle, and a building.

11. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the data received from the UAV further comprises location, altitude or orientation data of the UAV.

12. The modular system of claim 1 , wherein the sensor data further comprises audio data acquired by one or more audio sensors of the stackable application module.

13. A method for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) management, the method comprising:

(a) receiving, at a stackable application module, data from a UAV and sensor data from one or more vision sensors to determine an activity event associated with the UAV, wherein the data received from the UAV comprises at least an identifier of the UAV;

(b) processing the data received in (a) by a processor of the stackable application module to determine an activity event associated with the UAV; and

(c) providing a base station that is releasably assembled to the stackable application module via a first interface, wherein the stackable application module is mounted to the base station via the first interface and wherein the base station comprises:

(i) a communication module to provide communication functionality over a network,

(ii) a second interface providing electrical and mechanical coupling of the base station with a support member, wherein the second interface allows the base station to be releasably coupled to the support member.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the identifier of the UAV is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) registration number.

15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the activity event associated with the UAV comprises a deviation of the UAV from a designated flight path, operating within a legal space, or operating outside of legal space.

16. The method of claim 13 , wherein the activity event is determined utilizing a machine learning algorithm trained model.

17. The method of claim 13 , further comprising transmitting the activity event to a remote entity over the network.

18. The method of claim 13 , further comprising broadcasting the activity event at periodic intervals.

19. The method of claim 13 , wherein the one or more vision sensors provide a 360-degree coverage.

20. The method of claim 13 , wherein the one or more vision sensors comprise an infrared detector and a visual spectrum camera.

21. The method of claim 13 , wherein the support member is selected from a group consisting of streetlight, a utility pole, a vehicle, and a building.

22. The method of claim 13 , wherein the sensor data further comprises audio data acquired by one or more audio sensors of the stackable application module.
