Abstract

An athletic training system has a data recording system and a data engine. The data recording system is configured to record an athletic competition event. The event may have a first team of players competing against a second team of players. The data engine is configured to receive data associated with the recorded athletic competition event. The data engine processes the data and displays the data as a replay of the event in animated form.

Claims (42)

1. A method comprising:

receiving athletic performance data associated with a first individual, wherein the athletic performance data includes video data from one or more cameras recording the first individual;

processing the athletic performance data to evaluate a performance of the first individual;

generating an evaluation of the performance of the first individual from the processed athletic performance data;

generating a recommendation for improving one or more performance metrics of the first individual based on the evaluation of the performance; and

displaying an interface including a summary of the athletic performance data in an evaluation panel and the recommendation for improving one or more athlete performance metrics of the first individual in a recommendation panel,

wherein the recommendation includes a graphical representation of the one or more performance metrics and a narrative description of an area of improvement for the first individual.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating a video simulation of an athletic event in an animated form, wherein the first individual is represented by an avatar and a performance of the avatar in the video simulation is based on the processed athletic performance data associated with the first individual.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein a movement of the avatar during the video simulation is based on the processed athletic performance data associated with the first individual.

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein generating the video simulation includes:

generating a video image of the first individual in a user-selectable manner such that the video image of the first individual is user-selectable within the video simulation.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the evaluation of the performance of the first individual includes identifying an athletic performance area of improvement based on a comparison to a specified threshold performance.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing the recommendation through a virtual coach.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation further includes a footwear recommendation.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing the recommendation during a virtual replay of the first individual based on the video data from one or more cameras recording the first individual.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving athletic performance data associated with a second individual; and

generating a video simulation of a competition between a first team comprising at least the first individual and a second team comprising at least the second individual, wherein the first individual is represented by a first avatar, the second individual is represented by a second avatar, a performance of the first avatar in the video simulation is based on the received athletic performance data associated with the first individual, and a performance of the second avatar in the video simulation is based on the received athletic performance data associated with the second individual.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising receiving athletic performance data from a plurality of individuals representing the first team and a plurality of individuals representing the second team.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving additional athletic performance data associated with the first individual; and

generating an updated recommendation based on the received additional athletic performance data.

12. A method comprising:

receiving data electronically recorded during a first athletic event performed by a first individual, wherein the data includes video data from one or more cameras recording the first individual;

processing the data;

determining one or more performance metrics of the first individual based on the processed data;

generating a recommendation for improving one or more performance metrics of the first individual based on the processed data; and

displaying a virtual performance interface including an evaluation of video data recording the first individual during the first athletic event and a recommendation panel providing the recommendation for improving one or more performance metrics,

wherein the recommendation includes a graphical representation of the one or more performance metrics and a narrative description of an area of improvement for the first individual.

13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising generating a virtual simulation of the first athletic event based on the processed data, wherein the first individual is represented in an animated form by a first avatar.

14. The method of claim 12 , further comprising generating a video image of the first individual in a user-selectable manner such that the video image of the first individual is user-selectable within the virtual performance interface.

15. The method of claim 12 , wherein generating the recommendation for improving one or more performance metrics includes identifying an athletic performance area of improvement based on a comparison to a specified threshold performance.

16. The method of claim 12 , further comprising determining one or more performance metrics based on the video data.

17. The method of claim 12 , wherein the one or more performance metrics includes one or more of speed, endurance, and distance.

18. The method of claim 12 , wherein the recommendation includes a virtual coach configured to receive a user interaction to select one or more virtual training programs associated with the recommendation.

19. An apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

memory storing computer readable instructions that, when executed, cause the apparatus to:

receive athletic performance data associated with a first individual, wherein the athletic performance data includes video data from one or more cameras recording the first individual;

generate a video simulation of an athletic event in an animated form, wherein the first individual is represented by a first avatar, and a performance of the first avatar is based on the athletic performance data; and

display an athletic performance evaluation interface including the generated video simulation in a video simulation panel and an evaluation of one or more performance metrics of the first individual based on processing and analyzing the received athletic performance data,

wherein the evaluation includes a graphical representation of the one or more performance metrics and a narrative description of an area of improvement for the first individual.
