Abstract

An apparatus comprises at least one processing device that includes a processor coupled to a memory. The at least one processing device is configured to implement a source multi-path device between a source access device and a source logical storage device, to implement a target multi-path device between a target access device and a target logical storage device, and to initiate a data migration process to migrate data from the source logical storage device to the target logical storage device. The at least one processing device is further configured, in conjunction with the data migration process, to copy a set of paths of the source multi-path device to the target multi-path device, and to at least temporarily provide to the source access device identifying information of the source logical storage device in place of identifying information of the source multi-path device.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein implementing a target multi-path device between a target access device and a target logical storage device comprises identifying the target access device in the first multi-pathing software, creating the target multi-path device in the second multi-pathing software different than the first multi-pathing software, copying a set of paths of the target access device to the target multi-path device, adding to the set of paths of the target access device a new path to the target multi-path device, and removing paths other than the new path from the target access device.

10. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein subsequent to completion of the implementing of the target multi-path device between the target access device and the target logical storage device, there is only a single path remaining between the target access device and the target logical storage device.

11. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein at least temporarily providing to the source access device identifying information of the source logical storage device in place of identifying information of the source multi-path device comprises providing to the source access device at least one device identifier of the source logical storage device in place of at least one device identifier of the source multi-path device.

12. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the identifying information of the source logical storage device is provided to the source access device in place of identifying information of the source multi-path device at a commit stage of the data migration process based at least in part on detection of one or more specified commit command characteristics in association with triggering of a dummy event.

13. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the one or more specified commit command characteristics comprise at least a particular set attribute in the commit command.

14. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the detection of the one or more specified commit command characteristics causes previously-stored identifying information of the source logical storage device to be retrieved and provided to the source access device.

15. A computer program product comprising a non-transitory processor-readable storage medium having stored therein program code of one or more software programs, wherein the program code, when executed by at least one processing device comprising a processor coupled to a memory, causes the at least one processing device:
