Gum and tooth treatment method with rinsing

1. A gum and tooth treatment method to control tooth sensitivity, comprising:

brushing the teeth of a subject with a toothpaste composition to passivate the surface of tooth dentin of the subject to reduce dentin tubule openings, and

contacting the gums of the subject with the toothpaste composition, wherein the teeth of the subject are brushed for a time of at least one minute; then

rinsing the teeth and gums with water;

wherein the toothpaste composition comprises:

(a) Nigella sativa oil in an amount of 3 wt. %;

(b) an amount of water in the range of 33 wt. % to 36 wt. %;

(c) sodium lauryl sulfate in the range of 1 wt. % to 2 wt. %,

(d) glycerol in the range of 29 wt. % to 32 wt. %,

(e) sodium benzoate in the range of 0.5% to 1.0 wt. %,

(f) methyl cellulose in the range of 0.5% to 1.0 wt. %,

(g) calcium carbonate in the range of 24 wt. % to 27 wt. %,

(h) flavoring agent in the range of 0.5% to 1.0 wt. %,

(i) fluoride-doped bioactive glass in an amount of 1.5 wt. %;

(i) zinc oxide in an amount of 3.0 wt. %; and

(k) titanium oxide in an amount of 2 wt. %;

wherein the wt. % is present by weight of the total weight of the toothpaste and the toothpaste composition has a maximum mean bioglass fluoride release in elutes of 9.95 to 10.75 ppm.

2. The treatment method of claim 1 , wherein the toothpaste comprises water in an amount of about 36 wt. % of the total weight of the toothpaste.

3. The treatment method of claim 1 , wherein the sodium lauryl sulfate is present in an amount of 2 wt. % of the total weight of the toothpaste.

4. The treatment method of claim 1 , wherein the sodium benzoate is present in an amount of about 1 wt. % of the total weight of the toothpaste.

5. The treatment method of claim 1 , wherein the flavoring agent is present in an amount of about 1 wt. % of the total weight of the toothpaste.
