Abstract

A lift bracket system for lifting a building structure such as a foundation and the like comprising a lift plate having a top surface and a bottom surface, the top surface for insertion under the building structure; a generally cylindrical housing affixed to the lift plate and extending perpendicularly from the top surface and the bottom surface of the lift plate, the housing defining a generally circular opening through the lift plate, the opening being disposed away from the center of the lift plate; and at least one gusset for supporting the lift plate, the gusset having a first end and a second end, the gusset disposed beneath the lift plate, wherein the first end of the gusset is attached to the bottom surface of the lift plate and the second end of the gusset is attached to the housing.

Claims (34)

1. A system for lifting or stabilizing a building foundation comprising:

at least one pier comprising:

a first elongated support pile defined by a first shaft having a first diameter and a first axial length;

a second elongated support pile defined by a second shaft having a second diameter and a second axial length;

wherein each of the first and second elongated support piles are configured to complete an end-to-end connection via mutually perpendicular first and second fasteners extending across the first and second diameters; and

a support attachable to the at least one pier for lifting or stabilizing the building foundation when the at least one pier is anchored at a below ground position at a desired depth.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein one of the first and second elongated support piles includes a helical auger.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first elongated support pile includes an end connector that slidably receives an end of the second elongated support pile.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the end connector has a third diameter larger than the second diameter.

5. The system of claim 3 , wherein the first diameter is equal to the second diameter.

6. The system of claim 3 , wherein the end connector includes a first pair of holes and a second pair of holes to respectively accept the mutually perpendicular first and second fasteners.

7. The system of claim 3 , wherein the end of the second elongated support pile includes a third pair of holes and a fourth pair of holes to respectively accept the mutually perpendicular first and second fasteners when the third and fourth pair of holes are aligned with the first and second holes.

8. The system of claim 3 , wherein the end connector is welded to the first elongated support pile.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first elongated support pile and the second elongated support pile has a circular cross section or a square cross section.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the support is a lift bracket.

11. A method of lifting or stabilizing a building foundation comprising:

completing an end-to-end connection of a first elongated support pile shaft and a second elongated support pile shaft to assemble a pier to be anchored in a below ground position at a desired depth;

wherein the first elongated support shaft has a first diameter and a first axial length along a first longitudinal axis;

wherein the second elongated support pile shaft has a second diameter and a second axial length along a second longitudinal axis; and

wherein the end-to-end connection is completed via mutually perpendicular first and second fasteners extending across the first and second diameters;

attaching a support to the pier for lifting or stabilizing the building foundation while the pier is anchored at the below ground position at the desired depth.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising slidably receiving an end connector of the second elongated support pile over an end of the first elongated support pile.

13. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

aligning a first pair holes and a second pair of holes in the end connector with a third pair of holes and a fourth pair of holes in the first elongated support pile; and

inserting the mutually perpendicular first and second fasteners through the aligned holes.

14. The method of claim 11 , further comprising rotating the assembled pier to the desired depth.

15. A system for lifting or stabilizing a building foundation comprising:

at least one pier comprising:

a first elongated support pile defined by a first shaft having a first diameter and a first axial length;

a second elongated support pile defined by a second shaft having a second diameter and a second axial length;

wherein each of the first and second elongated support piles are configured to complete an end-to-end connection via mutually perpendicular first and second fasteners extending across the first and second diameters; and

wherein the end-to-end connection anchors the at least one pier in a below ground position at an extended depth to lift or stabilize the building foundation.

16. The system of claim 15 , further comprising a helical auger on one of the first or second elongated support piles.

17. The system of claim 16 , further comprising a support attached to the at least pier to lift or stabilize the building foundation.
