Abstract

The present invention concerns a method of encoding video data comprising frames into a bitstream, frames being spatially divided into frame portions, the method comprising: encoding at least one frame portion into one or more first encoded units; wherein the method further comprises: signalling into said first encoded units, at least one frame portion identifier, a frame portion identifier identifying one encoded frame portion; and providing frame portion arrangement information comprising the frame portion identifier and spatial information about the frame portion.

Claims (46)

1. A method of encoding a frame into a bitstream, the frame being spatially divided into rectangular regions each of which is capable of comprising at least one slice, the method comprising:

encoding a rectangular region in the frame;

signalling an identifier of each one of the rectangular regions in the frame,

signalling first information corresponding to a number of the rectangular regions in the frame,

signalling second information of a position of the rectangular region within the frame, and

signalling a flag related to loop filtering across boundaries of at least one of the rectangular regions in the frame,

wherein inter prediction is capable of being used in the rectangular region,

wherein all of the identifier, the first information, and the second information are signalled in a single parameter set in the bitstream, and wherein third information, different from the first information corresponding to the number of the rectangular regions in the frame, of the number of bits used to represent the identifier of each one of the rectangular regions in the frame is further signalled in the bitstream in a state where a different identifier is assigned to each one of the rectangular regions in the frame, the number of bits being a variable number.

2. A method of decoding video data comprising a frame from a bitstream, the frame being spatially divided into rectangular regions each of which is capable of comprising at least one slice, the method comprising:

obtaining, from a single parameter set in the bitstream, an identifier of each one of the rectangular regions in the frame, first information corresponding to a number of the rectangular regions in the frame, and second information of a position of a rectangular region in the frame,

wherein inter prediction is capable of being used in the rectangular region,

wherein all of the identifier, the first information, and the second information to be obtained are signalled in the single parameter set in the bitstream, and a flag related to loop filtering across boundaries of the rectangular region is signalled in the bitstream, and

wherein third information, different from the first information corresponding to the number of the rectangular regions in the frame, of the number of bits used to represent the identifier of each one of the rectangular regions in the frame is signalled in the bitstream in a state where a different identifier is assigned to each one of the rectangular regions in the frame, the number of bits being a variable number;

determining the position of the rectangular region in the frame based on the second information; and

decoding the rectangular region from the bitstream.

3. A device for encoding video data comprising a frame into a bitstream, the frame being spatially divided into rectangular regions each of which is capable of comprising at least one slice, the device comprising at least one processor configured for:

encoding a rectangular region in the frame;

signalling an identifier for each one of the rectangular regions in the frame,

signalling first information corresponding to a number of the rectangular regions in the frame,

signalling second information of a position of the rectangular region within the frame, and

signalling a flag related to loop filtering across boundaries of at least one of the rectangular regions in the frame,

wherein inter prediction is capable of being used in the rectangular region,

wherein all of the identifier, the first information, and the second information are signalled into a single parameter set in the bitstream, and wherein third information, different from the first information corresponding to the number of the rectangular regions in the frame, of the number of bits used to represent the identifier of each one of the rectangular regions in the frame is further signalled in the bitstream in a state where a different identifier is assigned to each one of the rectangular regions in the frame, the number of bits being a variable number.

4. A device for decoding video data comprising a frame from a bitstream, the frame being spatially divided into rectangular regions each of which is capable of comprising at least one slice, the device comprising at least one processor configured for:

obtaining, from a single parameter set in the bitstream, an identifier of each one of the rectangular regions in the frame, first information corresponding to a number of the rectangular regions in the frame, and second information of a position of a rectangular region in the frame,

wherein inter prediction is capable of being used in the rectangular region,

wherein all of the identifier, the first information, and the second information to be obtained are signalled in the single parameter set in the bitstream, and a flag related to loop filtering across boundaries of the rectangular region is signalled in the bitstream, and

wherein third information, different from the first information corresponding to the number of the rectangular regions in the frame, of the number of bits used to represent the identifier of each one of the rectangular regions in the frame is signalled in the bitstream in a state where a different identifier is assigned to each one of the rectangular regions in the frame, the number of bits being a variable number;

determining the position of the rectangular region in the frame based on the second information; and

decoding the rectangular region from the bitstream.

5. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising processor executable code for a programmable apparatus, comprising a sequence of instructions for implementing a method of encoding video data comprising a frame into a bitstream, the frame being spatially divided into rectangular regions each of which is capable of comprising at least one slice, the method comprising:

encoding a rectangular region in the frame;

signalling an identifier for each one of the rectangular regions in the frame,

signalling first information corresponding to a number of the rectangular regions in the frame,

signalling second information of a position of the rectangular region within the frame, and
