Abstract

In an embodiment, a water egress system is disclosed that provides individuals or pets with ease of access to elevated areas from the water. The water egress system includes a buoyant base including a ramp. The water egress system further includes a bolster disposed proximate to a surface of the base and an attachment mechanism that is configured to secure the bolster to the base.

Claims (66)

1. A water egress system comprising:

a buoyant base comprising a ramp;

a bolster disposed proximate to a surface of the base; and

an attachment mechanism that is configured to secure the bolster to the base, wherein the water egress system is configured to transition between a boost configuration and an extended configuration, the bolster being disposed proximate to a top surface of the base when the water egress system is in the boost configuration, and the bolster being disposed proximate to a side surface of the base when the water egress system is in the extended configuration.

2. The water egress system of claim 1 , wherein the bolster is removably attached to the base by the attachment mechanism.

3. The water egress system of claim 1 , wherein the water egress system has a first height and a first length when the water egress system is in the boost configuration and a second height and a second length when the water egress system is in the extended configuration, the first height being greater than the second height, and the first length being smaller than the second length.

4. The water egress system of claim 3 , wherein the water egress system is configured to transition to an angled extended configuration, wherein, when in the angled extended configuration:

the bolster is disposed proximate to the side surface of the base at a variable angle to the base;

the water egress system has a variable height based at least in part on the variable angle, wherein the variable height is between the second height and a third height, the third height being greater than the first height; and

the water egress system has a variable length based at least in part on the variable angle between the first length and the second length.

5. The water egress system of claim 3 , wherein in the boost configuration, the water egress system has an added height an angled extended configuration and is configured to prevent the water egress system from sliding under an elevated surface which the water egress system is connected.

6. The water egress system of claim 5 , wherein the added height of the boost configuration is configured to allow an individual or pet access to the elevated surface to which the water egress system is connected.

7. The water egress system of claim 3 , wherein in the extended configuration the water egress system has an added length and is configured to allow an individual or pet access to surfaces which are further away from an attachment point between the bolster and the base.

8. The water egress system of claim 1 , wherein, when in the extended configuration, a top surface of the bolster is about level with the top surface of the base.

9. The water egress system of claim 1 , further comprising a strap, wherein:

the bolster comprises a first attachment point;

the base comprises a second attachment point; and

the strap is configured to secure the bolster to the base using the first attachment point and the second attachment point.

10. The water egress system of claim 9 , wherein the strap is adjustable to increase and decrease a tension of the bolster against the surface of the base.

11. The water egress system of claim 9 , further comprising a third attachment point that is configured to removably attach the water egress system to an elevated platform.

12. The water egress system of claim 1 , wherein the ramp is removably attached to the base.

13. The water egress system of claim 12 , wherein the ramp is removably attached to the base using a corded attachment.

14. The water egress system of claim 1 , wherein the ramp comprises a mesh fabric and a weight mechanism that is configured to keep at least part of the mesh fabric submerged underwater.

15. The water egress system of claim 1 , wherein the ramp comprises a plurality of treads.

16. The water egress system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the base and the bolster comprise a drop stitch material having inflatable, buoyant, and portable properties.

17. The water egress system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the base and the bolster comprise a grip surface.

18. The water egress system of claim 1 , wherein the bolster is rotated about an axis of a corded attachment at an attachment point between the boost configuration and the extended configuration.

19. The water egress system if claim 18 , wherein the bolster is rotated about the axis of the corded attachment while remaining attached to the base.

20. The egress system of claim 18 , wherein rotation of the bolster about the axis of the corded attachment transitions the water egress system from the boost configuration to the extended configuration and vice versa.

21. A method comprising:

transitioning a water egress system between a boost configuration and an extended configuration, the water egress system comprising a buoyant base, a bolster, and an attachment mechanism that is configured to secure the bolster to the base, the bolster being disposed proximate to a first surface of the base when the water egress system is in the boost configuration and being disposed proximate to a second surface of the base when the water egress system is in the extended configuration.

The method of claim 21 , wherein the water egress system has a first height and a first length when the water egress system is in the boost configuration and a second height and a second length when the water egress system is in the extended configuration, the first height being greater than the second height, and the first length being smaller than the second length.

23. The method of claim 22 , further comprising transitioning the water egress system to an angled extended configuration, wherein, when in the angled extended configuration:

the bolster is disposed proximate to the second surface of the base at a variable angle to the base;

the water egress system has a variable height based at least in part on the variable angle, wherein the variable height is between the second height and a third height, the third height being greater than the first height; and

the water egress system has a variable length based at least in part on the variable angle between the first length and the second length.

24. The method of claim 21 , wherein:

the water egress system further comprises a strap that is configured to attach to the bolster and to the base; and

the method further comprises adjusting a tension of the bolster against the base by adjusting the strap.

25. The method of claim 24 , further comprising detaching the strap prior to transitioning the bolster between the boost configuration and the extended configuration.

26. A water egress system comprising:

a buoyant base comprising a ramp;

a bolster disposed proximate to a surface of the base; and

an attachment mechanism that is configured to secure the bolster to the base, wherein the ramp is removably attached to the base using a corded attachment.

27. The water egress system of claim 26 , wherein the ramp comprises at least one of a mesh or pliable fabric and a hard material.

28. The water egress system of claim 27 , wherein the at least one of the mesh or pliable material and the hard material form stairs on the ramp.

29. The water egress system of claim 26 , wherein the corded attachment is operatively associated with the base through a plurality of corresponding loops of a fabric strip on the base.

30. The water egress system of claim 26 , further comprising arms extending outwardly from the base, wherein the ramp extends outwardly from the base between the arms.

31. The water egress system of claim 30 , wherein the ramp is removably attached to the arms.

32. The water egress system of claim 31 , wherein the corded attachment is operatively associated with the arms through a plurality of corresponding loops of a fabric strip on the arms.

33. The water egress system of claim 26 , wherein a material of the ramp forms stairs or another configuration that supports and assists the egress or ingress of an individual or pet.

34. The water egress system of claim 33 , wherein the material of the ramp is stitched or joined together defining the stairs.

35. A water egress system comprising:

a buoyant base comprising a ramp;

a bolster disposed proximate to a surface of the base; and

an attachment mechanism that is configured to secure the bolster to the base, wherein the ramp comprises a plurality of treads.

36. The water egress system of claim 35 , wherein the plurality of treads is at least one of rungs, footholds, or traversable netting.

37. The water egress system of claim 35 , wherein each tread of the plurality of treads are disposed parallel to each other.

38. The water egress system of claim 35 , wherein the plurality of treads and the ramp form a plurality of stairs.

39. The water egress system of claim 38 , wherein the plurality of stairs are sized and spaced apart to accommodate at least one of an individual or a pet.

40. The water egress system of claim 35 , wherein the ramp further comprises a weight mechanism.

41. The water egress system of claim 40 , wherein the weight mechanism is removably attached to the ramp.

42. The water egress system of claim 40 , wherein the weight mechanism is sewed within the ramp.

43. The water egress system of claim 35 , wherein each thread of the plurality of treads is a stiffening or support member configured to hold the ramp in position while in use.

44. The water egress system of claim 43 , wherein the stiffening or support members are one of EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) foam or similar foam materials.

45. The water egress system of claim 43 , wherein the stiffening or support members are removeable.
