Abstract

One or more location based network slice coexistence rules for one or more locations of a wireless device are received from a network node. A request message for a first network slice for the wireless device is received from the wireless device being at a first location. A determination is made to accept the first network slice based on the first location and the one or more location based network slice coexistence rules. A first response message indicating acceptance of the first network slice is sent.

Claims (57)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by an access and mobility management function (AMF) from a wireless device, a registration request indicating one or more requested network slices;

sending, by the AMF to a network slice selection function (NSSF), a slice selection request indicating the one or more requested network slices;

receiving, by the AMF from the NSSF:

an indication of a first allowed network slice of the one or more requested network slices;

an indication of a second allowed network slice of the one or more requested network slices; and

a time-based network slice coexistence rule indicating a time duration during which the first allowed network slice and the second allowed network slice are concurrently usable;

sending, by the AMF to the wireless device, at a first time, not within the time duration, a slice selection response indicating acceptance of the first allowed network slice and the second allowed network slice;

enforcing, by the AMF, at a second time, not within the time duration, the time-based network slice coexistence rule, wherein the enforcing comprises one or more of:

initiating a network slice handover, modification, or deletion of the first allowed slice; or

initiating a packet data unit (PDU) session establishment, modification, or deletion of a PDU session of the wireless device.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending, to a network node, a second request message for at least one network slice information for a wireless device.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving one or more location-based network slice coexistence rules for the wireless device.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending, by the AMF to a unified data management function, a third request message requesting network slice information for the wireless device.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the third request message comprises at least one of:

a subscriber permanent identifier of the wireless device; or

network slice information.

6. The method of claim 4 , further comprising receiving, by the network node from the unified data management function, a second response message to the third request message, wherein the second response message comprises one or more of: a subscriber permanent identifier of the wireless device; or a subscribed network slice selection assistance information.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprises determining, by the AMF, the time-based network slice coexistence rules based on information received in the second response message.

8. An access and mobility management function (AMF) comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the AMF to:

receive, from a wireless device, a registration request indicating one or more requested network slices;

send, to a network slice selection function (NSSF), a slice selection request indicating the one or more requested network slices;

receive, from the NSSF:

an indication of a first allowed network slice of the one or more requested network slices;

an indication of a second allowed network slice of the one or more requested network slices; and

a time-based network slice coexistence ruleindicating a time duration during which the first allowed network slice and the second allowed network slice are concurrently usable;

send, to the wireless device, at a first time, within the time duration, a slice selection response indicating acceptance of the first allowed network slice and the second allowed network slice;

enforce, at a second time, not within the time duration, the time-based network slice coexistence rule, wherein the enforcing comprises one or more of:

initiating a network slice handover, modification, or deletion of the first allowed slice; or

initiating a packet data unit (PDU) session establishment, modification, or deletion of a PDU session of the wireless device.

9. The AMF of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the AMF to send, to a network node, a second request message for at least one network slice information for a wireless device.

10. The AMF of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the AMF to receive one or more location-based network slice coexistence rules for the wireless device.

11. The AMF of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the AMF to send, to a unified data management, a third request message requesting network slice information for the wireless device.

12. The AMF of claim 11 , wherein the third request message comprises at least one of:

a subscriber permanent identifier of the wireless device; or network slice information.

13. The AMF of claim 11 , wherein the instructions further cause the AMF to receive, from the unified data management, a second response message to the third request message, wherein the second response message comprises one or more of: a subscriber permanent identifier of the wireless device; or a subscribed network slice selection assistance information.

14. The AMF of claim 13 , wherein the instructions further cause the AMF to determine the time-based network slice coexistence rules based on information received in the second response message.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

receive, from a wireless device, a registration request indicating one or more requested network slices;

send, to a network slice selection function (NSSF), a slice selection request indicating the one or more requested network slices;

receive, from the NSSF:

an indication of a first allowed network slice of the one or more requested network slices;

an indication of a second allowed network slice of the one or more requested network slices; and

a time-based network slice coexistence ruleindicating a time duration during which the first allowed network slice and the second allowed network slice are concurrently usable;

send, to the wireless device, at a first time, within the time duration, a slice selection response indicating acceptance of the first allowed network slice and the second allowed network slice;
