Abstract

A two-wheeled vehicle includes a frame assembly having a front end and a rear end extending along a longitudinally-extending centerline, a front ground-engaging member operably coupled to the front end of the frame assembly at a front rotational axis, and a rear ground-engaging member operably coupled to the rear end of the frame assembly at a rear rotational axis. A wheel base is defined between the front and rear rotational axes and a vertically-extending centerline of the vehicle extends vertically at the midpoint of the wheel base and is perpendicular to the longitudinally-extending centerline. The vehicle also includes a fuel tank, an airbox assembly, and a battery all positioned relative to the vertically-extending centerline of the vehicle.

Claims (32)

1. A two-wheeled vehicle, comprising:

a frame assembly having a front end and a rear end extending along a longitudinally-extending centerline;

a plurality of body panels removably coupled to the frame assembly;

a front ground-engaging member operably coupled to the front end of the frame assembly at a front rotational axis;

a rear ground-engaging member operably coupled to the rear end of the frame assembly at a rear rotational axis;

an engine supported by the frame and operably coupled to at least one of the front ground-engaging member and the rear ground-engaging member;

a seat supported on the frame and configured to support at least an operator of the vehicle; and

a fuel tank having a fuel fill cap, and wherein at least one of the plurality of body panels is removably coupled to the frame assembly and the fuel tank at a position adjacent the fuel fill cap, wherein at least one of the plurality of body panels comprises a tank-alignment brace.

2. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the at least one of the plurality of body panels includes a first body panel positioned to a first lateral side of the fuel tank and a second body panel positioned to a second lateral side of the fuel tank.

3. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of body panels includes a support member configured to receive the fuel fill cap, and the support member is positioned to contact a portion of the frame assembly and receive the first and second body panels.

4. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the tank-alignment brace is removably coupled to the frame assembly.

5. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 4 , wherein the tank-alignment brace is positioned centered along the longitudinally-extending centerline.

6. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 5 , wherein one panel of the plurality of body panels has an opening for the fuel fill cap to extend therethrough.

7. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 6 , wherein the tank-alignment brace is coupled to the fuel tank at a position adjacent the fuel fill cap.

8. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 7 , wherein the tank-alignment brace is configured to minimize a gap between the fuel fill cap and the opening of the one panel to maintain the alignment of the fuel tank having a position centered about the longitudinally-extending centerline.

9. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 8 , wherein a catch member for spilled fuel positioned below the one panel.

10. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 9 , wherein the catch member is positioned vertically intermediate the tank-alignment brace and the one body panel.

11. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 10 , wherein the catch member is aligned with the opening and an opening of the tank alignment brace.

12. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 11 , wherein the tank-alignment brace is configured to minimizes gaps between the opening and the fuel fill cap to maintain alignment of the fuel fill cap along a longitudinal centerline.

13. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 12 , wherein the tank-alignment brace includes an opening configured to accommodate an ignition.

14. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 13 , wherein the tank-alignment brace is operable to pivot about a position of the ignition.

15. A two-wheeled vehicle, comprising:

a frame assembly having a front end and a rear end extending along a longitudinally-extending centerline;

a plurality of body panels removably coupled to the frame assembly, at least one of the plurality of body panels including a tank-alignment brace;

a front ground-engaging member operably coupled to the front end of the frame assembly at a front rotational axis;

a rear ground-engaging member operably coupled to the rear end of the frame assembly at a rear rotational axis;

an engine supported by the frame and operably coupled to at least one of the front ground-engaging member and the rear ground-engaging member; and

a fuel tank, wherein at least one of the plurality of body panels is removably coupled to the frame assembly and the fuel tank via the tank-alignment brace.

16. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 15 , wherein the tank-alignment brace is removably coupled to the frame assembly.

17. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 16 , wherein the tank-alignment brace is positioned centered along the longitudinally-extending centerline.

18. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 17 , wherein the fuel tank includes a fuel fill cap and wherein one panel of the plurality of body panels has an opening for the fuel fill cap to extend therethrough.

19. The two-wheeled vehicle of claim 18 , wherein the tank-alignment brace is coupled to the fuel tank at a position adjacent the fuel fill cap.
