Abstract

Methods and apparatuses in a wireless communication system. A method of operating a user equipment BS includes generating a first indicator requesting a report of a set of sidelink (SL) discontinuous reception (DRX) configurations for SL communications among user equipments (UEs); transmitting a downlink signal including the first indicator; receiving an uplink signal including the report of the set of the SL DRX configurations based on the first indicator indicating that the report of the set of the SL DRX configurations is requested; and configuring, based on the report of the set of the SL DRX configurations, a network DRX configuration for a Uu interface between a UE and a network entity including the BS.

Claims (34)

1. A first user equipment (UE) comprising:

a processor; and

a transceiver operably coupled to the processor, the transceiver configured to:

receive, from a second UE, a sidelink discontinuous reception (SL DRX) configuration; and

transmit, to a base station, a report including a semi-static part of the SL DRX configuration,

wherein the semi-static part of the SL DRX configuration includes a SL DRX on-duration timer, a SL DRX cycle length, and a SL DRX cycle start offset, and

wherein the SL DRX configuration from the second UE includes a SL DRX on-duration timer, a SL DRX cycle length, a SL DRX cycle start offset, a SL DRX inactivity timer, a SL DRX hybrid automatic request repeat (HARQ) round trip time (RTT) timer, and a SL DRX HARQ retransmission timer.

2. The first UE of claim 1 , wherein the transceiver is configured to transmit, to the second UE, a suggested SL DRX configuration via a PC5 radio resource control (RRC) message.

3. The first UE of claim 1 , wherein the SL DRX configuration is received from the second UE via a PC5 radio resource control (RRC) message.

4. The first UE of claim 1 , wherein the transceiver is configured to transmit the report including the semi-static part of the SL DRX configuration to the base station when the first UE received a configuration from the base station.

5. The first UE of claim 1 , wherein the report indicates whether SL DRX is applied.

6. The first UE of claim 1 , wherein the report further includes a channel sensing type from among full sensing, partial sensing, and random selection when the first UE performs channel sensing for transmission to the second UE.

7. The first UE of claim 1 , wherein the report further includes a layer 2 (L2) source identifier or destination identifier of a SL link with the second UE.

8. A method performed by a first user equipment (UE), the method comprising:

receiving, from a second UE, a sidelink discontinuous reception (SL DRX) configuration; and

transmitting, to a base station, a report including a semi-static part of the SL DRX configuration,

wherein the semi-static part of the SL DRX configuration includes a SL DRX on-duration timer, a SL DRX cycle length, and a SL DRX cycle start offset, and

wherein the SL DRX configuration from the second UE includes a SL DRX on-duration timer, a SL DRX cycle length, a SL DRX cycle start offset, a SL DRX inactivity timer, a SL DRX hybrid automatic request repeat (HARQ) round trip time (RTT) timer, and a SL DRX HARQ retransmission timer.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising transmitting, to the second UE, a suggested SL DRX configuration via a PC5 radio resource control (RRC) message.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the SL DRX configuration is received from the second UE via a PC5 radio resource control (RRC) message.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein transmitting the report further comprises transmitting the report including the semi-static part of the SL DRX configuration to the base station when the first UE received a configuration from the base station.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the report indicates whether SL DRX is applied.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the report further includes a channel sensing type from among full sensing, partial sensing, and random selection when the first UE performs channel sensing for transmission to the second UE.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the report further includes a layer 2 (L2) source identifier or destination identifier of a SL link with the second UE.

15. A base station (BS) comprising:

a processor; and

a transceiver operably coupled to the processor, the transceiver configured to receive, from a user equipment (UE), a report including a semi-static part of a sidelink discontinuous reception (SL DRX) configuration,

wherein the semi-static part of the SL DRX configuration includes a SL DRX on-duration timer, a SL DRX cycle length, and a SL DRX cycle start offset, and

wherein the SL DRX configuration includes a SL DRX on-duration timer, a SL DRX cycle length, a SL DRX cycle start offset, a SL DRX inactivity timer, a SL DRX hybrid automatic request repeat (HARQ) round trip time (RTT) timer, and a SL DRX HARQ retransmission timer.

16. The BS of claim 15 , wherein the SL DRX configuration from a second UE in response to a suggested SL DRX configuration from the UE.

17. The BS of claim 15 , wherein the transceiver is configured to transmit a configuration to the UE and receive the report including the semi-static part of the SL DRX configuration in response to the transmission of the configuration.

18. The BS of claim 15 , wherein the report indicates whether SL DRX is applied.

19. The BS of claim 15 , wherein the report further includes a channel sensing type from among full sensing, partial sensing, and random selection when the UE performs channel sensing for transmission to a second UE.

20. The BS of claim 15 , wherein the report further includes a layer 2 (L2) source identifier or destination identifier of a SL link with a second UE.
