Recombinant vaccine against Marek's disease and Newcastle disease
Provided herein are immunogenic compositions containing recombinant viruses capable of inducing protection in poultry against both Marek's disease virus (MDV) and Newcastle disease virus (NDV). Such viruses incorporate nucleic acids for expressing at least one MDV antigen, such as glycoprotein B, and antigenic portions thereof, in a recombinant NDV genome.
1. A recombinant Newcastle disease virus (NDV), comprising a synthetic polypeptide having an amino acid sequence at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO:2, and wherein the genome of the recombinant NDV is at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO: 3.
2. The recombinant NDV of claim 1 , comprising a synthetic polypeptide having an amino acid sequence at least 98% identical to SEQ ID NO:2.
3. The recombinant NDV of claim 1 , further comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
4. The recombinant NDV of claim 1 , wherein the NDV strain is LaSota.
5. A vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding the recombinant NDV of claim 1 .
6. A method of eliciting an immune response against Marek's disease virus (MDV) and Newcastle disease virus (NDV) in a subject, comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising a recombinant NDV expressing a synthetic polypeptide having an amino acid sequence at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO:2, and wherein the genome of the recombinant NDV is at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO: 3.
7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the synthetic polypeptide has an amino acid sequence at least 98% identical to SEQ ID NO:2.
8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the synthetic polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
9. The method of claim 6 , wherein the subject is poultry.
10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the subject is a chicken.
