Abstract

A lane departure suppression device including a control unit that executes a lane departure suppression control (automatic steering of the steering wheel and/or a warning being issued) when it is determined that there is a possibility that a vehicle departs from a lane. The control unit does not execute the lane departure suppression control when the control unit determines that a lateral speed and a lateral acceleration of the vehicle are increased within a predetermined time from a time point at which acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle is started, and that there is an adjacent lane on a side with respect to the lane in which the lateral speed and the lateral acceleration are increased.

Claims (9)

1. A lane departure suppression device comprising:

a vehicle position detection device that detects a position of a vehicle with respect to a lane; and

an electronic control unit configured to:

execute a lane departure suppression control that includes automatically steering a steering wheel and/or issuing a warning based on the position of the vehicle detected by the vehicle position detection device,

determine that a driver intends to maintain the lane when a turn signal lever is not in an operating position and the driver is performing a steering operation to maintain the lane, the steering operation being determined by whether a magnitude of a steering torque is less than a first predetermined value or a magnitude of a steering angle is less than a second predetermined value,

determine that the driver intends to depart from the lane beyond a lane boundary when the turn signal lever is in the operating position or the driver is performing the steering operation to change the lane, the steering operation being determined by whether the magnitude of the steering torque is equal to or greater than the first predetermined value or the magnitude of the steering angle is equal to or greater than the second predetermined value, and

based upon the determination that the driver intends to depart from the lane beyond the lane boundary, cancel the lane departure suppression control.

2. The lane departure suppression device according to claim 1 , wherein, after the lane departure suppression control is cancelled, the electronic control unit is configured to continue to cancel the lane departure suppression control until the electronic control unit determines that a preset cancel condition is satisfied.

3. The lane departure suppression device according to claim 2 , wherein the electronic control unit is configured to determine that the preset cancel condition is satisfied when the electronic control unit determines that the vehicle has moved to the adjacent lane and determines that the lateral speed and the lateral acceleration of the vehicle with respect to the adjacent lane are equal to or less than a reference lateral speed and a reference lateral acceleration, respectively.
